Your Favourite Kind Of Cake/pie?

Tue Mar 14, 2006 6:26 am

(Real) Mincemeat Pie or Pecan. I like my pie rich and gooey. The only type of cake I really like is Carrot, where the cream cheese frosting is on about a 1:1 ratio with the cake (yes, I have a sweet tooth)

Either the family cake, which is a rich white cake with a soft white frosting and a hardened chocolate layer on top; Mexican chocolate cake, which is an oh so rich chocolate cake; or one of my improvised spice cakes with a maple frosting. Yum!

Honestly, I haven't met a pie I didn't like.  biggrin

But of all pies and cakes out there, my mother's cherry pie is by far my favorite - made with fresh BC cherries and fantastic homemade pastry.

P.F. Chang's restaurant http://pfchangs.com has something called The Great Wall of Chocolate. It is amazing. It is made up of soft chocolate cake with rich chocolate icing. The outside of the cake is covered in chocolate chips and dressed with rasberry sauce. It will put anyone into a diabetic coma with its 2325 calories and 325 carbs.

I love desserts! I'm the type of person that will eat the dessert first
before the appetizer or entree.
I must say that I prefer pies over cake, but I do love 'em both.

Favorite cakes: Home-made pineapple upside-down cake and
Kaese Sahne Kuchen

Quoting YooYoo (Reply 8):
It's a cake called Bienenstich

That's my mom's favorite German pastry. There is an eastern German
bakery chain called Thobens Backwaren that has a very good
Bienenstich. It's only about 2 inches high, so there's almost an even
amount of cake and custard.
I've had it from other bakeries, but they all seem to make them about
4 inches high, so it's mostly cake...too much cake for me!
But I've never seen it outside of Germany.

Favorite Pies: Green Apple/Cranberry/Walnut
Boysenberry
Strawberry-Rhubarb got replaced by Strawberry-Raspberry.
Fresh (not canned) Apricot
fly high, pay low...Germanwings!
