I am looking for some advice. I am a Canadian and have a good Canadian friend who is currently living in Lahore, Pakistan. I must say, I would probably never plan a trip to Pakistan, however my friend keeps telling me to come visit her and I would really like to take this opportunity to go some place I would never otherwise plan to go. She travels back and forth between Pakistan and Canada quite frequently and has no problems. I have so far been a bit leary of going as on the Consular Affairs website (information for Canadians travelling abroad, www.voyage.gc.ca) basically states that Canadians should not visit Pakistan because it is unsafe. On the other hand, from doing some searching and reading around online, I notice a lot of people say that Pakistan is not at all what you expect it to be and that despite warnings not to go, most travellers experience few problems. So basically what I am wondering is this. Do I go and visit my friend, assuming things will be fine and I will experience no problems as she claims I won't, or do I take the safe route and not go at all as it is supposedly deemed unsafe. I am hoping some airliners.net members from Pakistan might be able to shed some light on this for me!! Thanks so much!!
