Middlesborough Fans Stabbed By Italian Thugs

Wed Mar 15, 2006 6:23 pm

Just heard on Sky Sports News that Roma fans have stabbed 3 Middlesborough fans in Rome ahead of the two teams UEFA Cup clash.
Will provide more news as I hear it, but it seems that Italian fans are once again making themselves look bad after last seasons violence in the AC Milan vs Inter Milan Champions League game.
When will they learn?  Yeah sure

What does stabbing the fans do?? Wouldn't the players be a more sensible target?

And at the end of the day, no matter how passionate you are, its just a game and you should respect your opposition. Some of my best friends support opposite teams to what I do and I don't go around stabbing them. Far out.

The English and Italians have a reputation of rioting, I presume that Italians were trying to bait the English into a riot, but failed, so stabbed some of them

Apparently never. Well, try to cross a street in Rome as a pedestrian and you can understand a bit why.  splat

I am afraid we will see more of this in the World Cup this year.

Particularly when Brazil beats everyone else and becomes the champion for the 6th time...  stirthepot

It's usually the English who organise the thuggish behavious- not the other way round. Why football can be that emotional to make people murderers is beyond me!

Yes we have a reputation but that's a VERY big generalisation. You've never been to an Ajax vs Feyenoord match in Holland I take it. We tend to make the headlines, but its just as much a problem in Holland, Germany, Italy, Eastern Europe.....

Football hooliganism is actually organised in the UK. We have a very bad reputation when it comes to football- and I do appreciate that Germany, Holland etc have their problems too, but we are much worse. It sometimes gets very embarrasing. Anyway, I hope they recover.

English fans actually seem to have calmed down a lot since the incidents in Turkey and France. There are still some elements of thuggery, but there have been crackdowns on hooligans travelling which seem to have reduced the problems. Japan/Korea, and Portugal were comparatively trouble free.

England fans have a bad reputation which is not really justified anymore. Trouble at English grounds is virtually non existant especially when compared to places like Italy and Holland. If an English crowd showed the same rascism and neo nazism of some of the Italian crowds we'd be banned forever but everyone else's nonsense is overlooked and ignored.
