Thank god for basketball. I thought you were going to start talking about that 80's cheese band. I was thinking, "Oh crap, here starts a 'A.netters with Mullets IND Meet!' thread".

The NCAA tournament is a great example of why the college game is more exciting and interesting than the pro game. My SO won't sit and watch a minute of an NBA game, but she watches March Madness right beside me.

This was a hell of a game, George Mason is no longer a cinderella team. I sure as hell wouldn't want to play them. At least with UConn you know what you were going to get. But this team has come out of nowhere to beat Michigan St., North Carolina, Wichita State, and UConn. No other team has performed this well in the tournament.

The roll they are on and the level of basketball they are playing make them a dangerous and scary opponent to face.

It's been a helluva tournament this year. Usually, after a few upsets in round 1, it plays pretty much to form, but right now, you only have one #1 left-and last time I looked, 'Nova was down to Florida; you had 3 mid-majors make it to the Sweet 16, and now one to the Final Four.

Last time I can remember a true mid-major being in the Final Four had to be '79, I think it was, when both Indiana State and Penn made it to the Final Four.

Greatest sporting even there is, imho.

George Mason..that why you play the game. It was quite apparent who was having more fun. UConn guys looked like it was a job. Congrats also to Wichita State, Gonzaga, UW-Milwaukee the other mid-majors that did well.

100% correct. The only pro team that is interesting is the Suns. The rest just play boring basketball.

Simple...GMU really has nothing to lose now. They've exceeded their wildest expectations and have made it to the Final Four. Amazing..

Lets see: We got one school from the "weak and inferior Pac-10", two from the SEC, and one from the CAA. Take that Big East, ACC, and Big 10 and your "experts." Of all of the ESPN experts, only ONE analyst picked ONE correct team.

It seems at this moment, the championship is up for grabs. I'm going for UCLA vs. Florida in the championship game.

I think it will be LSU v. Florida. Right now, LSU, in my book, is the favorite. They're the most physical team left.

I'd love to see George Mason make it, and anyone can get there in this group, but that may be asking too much.

Even before his stupid musings on the Mid-majors during the selection show they were a lot of us who wanted to say that very thing.

I'm hoping for an all-SEC final with Florida beating LSU for the third time this year. GO GATORS!

Much prefer the college game, instead on the endless NBA season..Isn't the Cav's LeBron and everyone else, while the Suns are a true team. Then again the don't pay much attention to the NBA.

This may be true. I think it will be a good game. If anything UCLA vs. Memphis showed, is the power of stifling defense. They played good D, but their abysmal 3 point shooting and lack of production from their stars speak volumes.

No, it's not LeBron and everyone else. Z is one of the best centers in the league; Drew Gooden can get you 10 points and 10 boards an any night; this Flip Murray has been a spark in the place of injured Larry Hughes.

I'm hoping for that one as well though CBS hates the idea since it narrows the audience to the Southeast. We've already beaten them twice including a pretty decisive win in the SEC Tournament. For some reason Big Baby Davis looks like he has put on about 50 pounds and 6 inches in the past few weeks. I just don't remember him being that big.

Everything has been turned upside down here in Fairfax. We've gone from being a large quiet commuter school to the national limelight in a period of 2 weeks. News crews are everywhere. Not to mention its great publicity for the school which is in itself an up and coming university. Nobody expected us in their wildest stretch of the imagination to get this far. It is also great to see the entire student body, Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland come together to support the team. I honestly believed that going into the game yesterday we were finished, and even if we did beat UConn we would have had to face Villanova. What a day in sports, and how happy I am that I was wrong! It's 7:44 AM and I'm not on campus for the day yet but my phone has been ringing since last night and news crews are all over the place from what I hear.

Hey now! Show a little respect for Florida. Nova was due for a beating.

That said, I sure as heck am not looking forward to playing you guys this Saturday. You've knocked off 3 of the last 6 national champs in your run and I can't remember the last time anyone did that. Good luck on Saturday but I'm hoping the Chomp doesn't stop just yet.

According to the Washington Post: UConn basketball budget $1.9 million, George Mason $279,000. America loves the underdog. If they go all the way, do I sense another "Hoosier" type movie.

I guarantee you at least one person in or around Fairfax put down a little money as a Lark on GMU. Has to be. Imagine if you had put, oh, $50 on them in LAS before the tournament started?

Damn...

I was at the game, and before the tip, the GMU student section was chanting Billy Packer's name... it was a helluva game too- the energy in the arena was unbelievable... my throat still hurts from all the screaming I was doing...

Lets just put it this way-there was one hell of a party in Fairfax last night  Smile The team came home and was greeted by students and fans at the Patriot Center, they had fireworks and the whole deal. Everyone is pretty excited, its been a lot of fun so far.

DLGator-I wish you luck of well! May the best team win, and regardless of who comes out of it the loser it is still one hell of an accomplishment for all of the teams in the Final Four to have gotten where they are.

First off congrats to GMU. I remember being at Marquette when they made the Final Four run in 2003, and I don't think I had a better day in college than when they beat Kentucky to make it. Campus was crazy, and beer flowed everywhere, it was good times all around.

I read on espn.com that some guy is riding 400:1 odds in a $20 bet. $8,000 if they win it all. Out of like 10,000+ brackets on espn, 4 got the correct Final Four. This has been one of the best tournaments ever, even if Marquette lost in the first round.

Just to let you know how insane things are here....I had to wait 2 1/2 hours in line today to get my limit of 5 George Mason Patriot's Final Four t-shirts. I was lucky as I decided to wait until this afternoon to go. The shirts were originally due this morning at 10AM and it kept getting pushed back until they eventually arrived at 2PM. There were hundreds of people in line infront of me that had been waiting since this morning, a lot of people ended up leaving for lunch and then coming back to get in line again. 6000 t-shirts at $20 a pop, thats a nice chunk of change even after you pay the shirt manufacturers. If you roughly figure the shirts cost half of what they are charging for them, thats still $60,000. GO PATRIOTS!

I heard there is an unofficial shirt being made that says "GMU Final Four 2006" on the front, and on the back says "Sorry for f**king up your brackets!"
