Your A 90's Junkie If......

Thu Apr 06, 2006 4:12 pm

One of my co-workers sent me this E-Mail which I thought was very interesting.

Body: Anybody under the age of 14 should not read this, and if you do, you should not repost this.

Just because you were born in '92 doesn't mean you're a 90's kid.

It's not like you could remember the original Simpsons. I am sorry but three conscious years of the nineties just wont cut it.

You're a 90's kid if:

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!"

Yup, I did it a few times.

You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

LOL. No.

You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died.

Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix RIP  Sad

You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on a Saturday to watch cartoons.

Nope!

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

Hell Yes!

You remember reading "Goosebumps"

Hell No

You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off"

HAHA, Yeah.

You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.

Nope.

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

Nope

You danced to "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls, Females: had a new motto, Males: got a whole lot gay-er. (so tell me what you want, what you really really want.)

HELLLLLLLL NOOOOOO

You remember the craze, then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books.

HAHA, Got in trouble all the time.

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not...

Sometimes

Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? was both a game and a TV game show.

Yup

Captain Planet.

Sadly, Yes

You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the red* Ranger were meant to be together.

Never watched that crap.

When playing power rangers with friends you fought over who got to be who............and still all ended up being Tommy.

Never played that crap.

You remember when super nintendo's became popular.

Hell yes I do. Aerobiz kicked ass

You remember watching home alone 1, 2 , and 3........and tried to pull the pranks on "intruders"

All the damn time.

"I've fallen and I can't get up"

Lame

You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates

I suck at skating.

Two words... Trapper Keeper.

I hated those damn things.

You never got injured on a Slip 'n' Slide

Correct

You wore socks over leggings scrunched down

HUH?

"Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black, with silver buttons, buttons, buttons, all down her back, back, back" SHE ASKED HER MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER FOR FIFTY CENTS CENTS CENTS TO SEE THE ELEPHANTS PHANTS PHANTS JUMP OVER THE FENCE THE FENCE THE FENCE
he jumped so high high high he touched the sky sky sky and he didnt come back back back til the forth of july ly ly he jumped so low ow ow he stubbed his toe toe toe and thats the end end end of the elephants show show show

I hated that shit

You remember boom boxes vs. cd players

Boom boxes all the way!

You remember New Kids on The Block when they were cool

HELLLLLLL NOOOOOO. NKOTB Suck!

You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell"

Yup.

You played and/or collected "Pogs"

Had over 100 of them.

You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere

Hell No, that was for girls.

You watched the original Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles

When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday.

When Toys R Us overuled the mall.

Go back to the time when:

Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'.

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!'

'Race issue' ment arguing about who ran the fastest.

Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly.'

It wasn't odd to have two or three 'best' friends.

Being old referred to anyone over 20.

A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery.

Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better.

It was a big deal to finally be tall enought to ride the 'big people' rides at the fair.

When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever.

When Ninja Turtles ruled the world.

Another Baby Sitter Club and Little Sister (Karen) book came out and you put your name on hold for it at the library.

When Aladdin was new, before the trilogy was complete.

No George W. Bush

Sometimes I wonder if we would of been better off with Gore. (Sorry fellow Republicans)

Before we realized all this would eventually disappear

Who would have thought you'd miss the 90's so much!!!!!

_________________________________________________________________

I commented on about 3/4 of them but got tired of typing. Lets hear everyone else comment. I miss the 90's.

I am WAAAYYYYY too lazy to copy and paste and respond to all the stuff in the first post (which definitely was not all from the '90s). However, I was born in '82, and therefore, I'll post the highlights from my childhood in the late '80s and the '90s:

- I only watched weekday afternoon cartoons, which included (in no order):
"GI Joe"
"The Real Ghostbusters"
"Smurfs"
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"
"Transformers"
"Thundercats" (first cartoon I ever watched regularly)
etc...

-I first started listening to popular music in the early to mid '90s, and started out with:
"River Of Dreams" by Billy Joel
"Get A Grip" by Aerosmith
"Dookie" by Greenday
"Nevermind" by Nirvana
"Superunknown" by Soundgarden
etc.

-I can most definitely sing the whole theme to "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"

-Original Nintendo is still unbeaten in my book. However, we were a Sega family as opposed to SNES.

-Speaking of Original Nintendo, we still have "Super Tecmo Bowl" and "RBI Baseball II" which are the greatest football and baseball games (respectively) that have ever existed

-"Bionic Commando" was also an awesome game for NES

-I believe we had "Where in the US...", "Where in Europe...", "Where in the World...", and "Where in Time Is Carmen San Diego" for our computer.

-I happen to remember that Rockapella was the a-capella group on the TV show of "Where in the World Is Carmen San Diego"

-"Hardy Boys" were my favorite series of books when I was young. The original series is terribly cheesy in retrospect.

-I definitely am quite familiar with all the characters on "Saved By The Bell"

-I remember when River Phoenix died, and I also remember the short-lived "Young Indian Jones" series on TV (don't remember who played IJ)

-While I do remember when the Bulls were the best team ever, I moreso remember when the Celtics had Bird, McHale, Parish, DJ, Ainge, etc.

-I remember when the Patriots had Irving Fryar, Steve Grogan, Jon Vaughan, etc. (sorry I'm from Boston)

-I was a huge Buffalo Bills fan in the days of Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, and James Lofton

-I remember going to games at Fenway when Mike Greenwell was in LF, Ellis Burks was in CF, Dwight Evans was in RF, Clemens and Hurst were the top starters for the Sox, Joe Morgan was the manager, etc.

-I remember the Houston Oilers having their 4 wide receiver lineup, with Curtiss Duncan, Haywood Jeffries, Ernest Givens, and Drew Hill (with Warren Moon as QB)

-Definitely remember the Trapper Keeper phase

-Oh, and how could you talk about the '90s without mentioning "Magic: The Gathering"? That was my and my friends' prime obsession for '96-97 or so.

What a freaking decade.

America was divided between SNES and Genesis, im going to come out of the closet and tell you that I always envied Genesis for one thing, Sonic. O Damn thee!

Damn, most of them sound just like me!

Quoting Delta767300ER (Thread starter):
You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

Does the Spanish version count? Big grin

Quoting Delta767300ER (Thread starter):
You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died.

At least Selena, since she was pretty popular here.

Quoting Delta767300ER (Thread starter):
You danced to "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls, Females: had a new motto, Males: got a whole lot gay-er. (so tell me what you want, what you really really want.)

Up to this day, I can still sing it from beginning to end.  embarrassed

Quoting Delta767300ER (Thread starter):
You remember when super nintendo's became popular.

My SNES is still up and running!

Quoting Delta767300ER (Thread starter):
You know the Macarena by heart.

*dancing* Eeeh Macarena!

Quoting Delta767300ER (Thread starter):
When the Chicago Bulls were the best team ever.

I was a great Bulls fan back in the time...

Quoting Delta767300ER (Thread starter):
You remember reading "Goosebumps"

Yup, my brother had quite a collection. I wonder where did all the books go...

Wow, I started going through and hitting the quote button but then there was just so many it wasn't worth it

Ditto...wow what a flashback to the good old days...

Let's see...we were definitely a bi-polar family on the video games...started out with the original NES (yes that was 80s), then jumped right up to Sega Genesis, which we won in a contest in 1990 (still have it today and 16 years later it still runs like a charm  Smile), then fell back for a while and switched back to Nintendo 64 later in the decade...

For those Sonic fans out there...I came across this little dandy of a product...a nice trip down memory lane awaits! (Sonic 2 was the best of the series, IMO)...

So did I. Yes, I remember Oregon Trail. Heck, we had fun with it when I was a senior in high school (there was a computer there that was so old only 5.25 disks would work on it) in '99!

Freglerock was Fraggle Rock. Now see if you remember. There are tons of sites with 80s TV themes and all sorts of other stuff from the 80s. I laughed my ass off watching most of the cartoon themes, remembering them so well from my childhood.

Haha. In my opinion, the fewer buttons, the better. Two buttons (A, B) is the best, but I could handle 3 on the Sega (A, B, C). Four (A, B, X, Y) got a bit much for me on SNES.

However, after our Sega days, we went back to Nintendo and got a 64.

Funny enough, only the original Nintendo sees any use these days (I can't believe it's still running - everyone else's all stopped at about the same time).

What about this 90s symbol:

"Now this is the story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down and I’d like to take a minute just sit right there I’ll tell you how I became the prince of a town called bel-air..."

"In west Philadelphia, born and raised. On the playground is where I spent most of my days..."

"....shootin out, maxin out, relaxin all cool, shootin some b-ball outside the school. When a couple of guys up to no good, startin makin trouble in the neighborhood. I got in one little flight and my mom got scared, sayin "ya movin with your auntsy and uncle in bel air!" I whistled a cab, and when it came near the license plate said "fresh" and there were dice in the mirror. If anything, I was thinkin this cab was wierd, but I said nah, forget it, "yo homes, to bel air!" I pulled up to the house around 7 or 8 and yelled to the cabbie "yo homes, smell ya later!" I looked at my kingdom and I was finally there, to sit on my throne as the prince of bel air."

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

Ah, they just don't make computer games the way they used to. The best part of that game was finding about which disease was gonna kill someone in your party next - typhoid, chlmydia (?), gonnorreah, syphilis, tuberculosis, only thing missing was herpes and the clap. I loved the Oregon Trail - I dominated that game.
