Domestic Chores

Sun Apr 09, 2006 8:08 am

Well I hate Ironing, cleaning the windows and gardening.

Those are the chores I have to psyche myself up to do - hence my ironing is up to the ceiling, the windows have this hazy fog on them and the garden is a wilderness !!

Anyone else have these phobias when it comes to doing house jobs and what else about the house do you hate doing.

Wish I was rich I'd love a maid !!

Hmm, well tonight (since 11) I have already.....

Done 1 load of washing and just put the 2nd one in, 1 set of drying/Ironing, made supper, washed alot of dishes, changed my bedsheets, and put out the rubbish.

Now, I have a nice cuppa, and and debating a few things that I "want" to do, but am not sure if I "should" do yet.....

My 'phobia' is not getting those things done. I'm anal retentive about cleaning and the lot.

Whether it's vacuuming, washing windows, washing/ironing laundry, whatever . . . my house stays uber-clean. I vacuum nearly every day, laundry gets done every other day, ironing is easy as I have an rather large home steam press, sheets are changed every three-four days. It's scarey sometimes.

Can I borrow you for a week.
I do the laundry, the cleaning, get the kids up fed and off to school while she sleeps in. Somehow I think she is getting the better end of the deal, or course if I let her clean the house it would look like a mess most of the time.

My g/f is that way - unorganized clusterf($k most of the time. What is complete disarray for me is just fine for her . . .  irked .

My wife used to be a mess, after the kids were born we both do a good job around the house.

My phobia is actually cooking. In the 12 years I've known my wife I must have cooked a decent meal for her maybe 5 times.

When I really clean, nobody tops me, I get into all the little spaces. I'm pretty good with my ironing, I even iron my 'good' t-shirts.

I love all sorts of cleaning- you can see a measurable result and take pride in it. If I had to pick something, I don't really enjoy doing the dishes by hand as much as other things.

Hahaha, we seem to have similar dislikes!

Ironing... ugh! The other day I had to iron all the clothes that had been washed the week before. To give you an idea of the amount, consider we're a family of six, including two active schoolchildren and a dad who is repairing his trucks at least 3 days a week. Well, it took me 5 hours to get done with the ironing... a few minutes more and I would have lost my mental sanity. Big grin

And while I don't hate cleaning the windows, I can never get them really clean, and that pisses me off to no end. At least I don't have to clean them anymore, since my brother is in charge.

Other than that, I like keeping the house clean. Of course I'd rather be watching TV than mopping the floor, but I don't really mind doing chores. Except the aforementioned ones, of course.  Silly
Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.

Don't like vacuuming, or cleaning the shower. It's nice once it's done though so I'm always reasonably motivated.

Love cooking so I do all the meal prep in our household, gf probably does a bit more cleaning.

Yesterday, I pulled my bedroom apart and cleaned it from to to bottom, pulling my wardrobes out and washing the skirting boards etc. I don't mind ironing as long as I have something to watch on TV whilst I am doing it. I can't wait until next week when I have my own place so I only have to clean when I need to and not when my parents say so. I know I'll be sweeping the floor a lot cos I'll be at the beach every day.

Hey, best way to clean windows and leave them streak free, warm water, a little washing up liquid and a few drops of vinegar - wash with a window cloth and dry with kitchen roll - much better than any bought window cleaner and cheaper!!  Smile

Che Stlgph's place has the finest domestic diva in the entire world....himself!

Well, just kidding. There a few things I am sticklers on for myself...clean towels, clean clothes, clean sheets, etc. I tend to vacuum and dust about once a week. I should probably do it more. I take the trash out usually every 2 days. I wash dishes and glasses out immediately. The microwave is cleaned as soon as something spills in or on it. Same with the counter tops. Bathroom gets a good rub down about once a week.

My biggest challenge is organization. I like to be very organized and keep things "tidy." Sometimes it's a challenge and sometimes it comes easy to me. Since I anticipate to move soon, I am not so much into buying more than what I need at the moment. I could take two hours and organize everything and not be satisfied with the way I have things set up at the moment. Oh well, I'll figure it out soon, whenever I can get a day off!

Ha! It really is easy. Just get off your duff and do it! Most of the stuff on the list can be done in a matter of 5 or 10 minutes.

And I totally am digging the Glade "Clean Linen" scent.

Actually, if you keep up with it - it is rather easy.

I like to cook, and my kitchen gets trashed sometimes - but if you do as I do and clean it as you go, then you're in good shape. . .

Same with everything else . . . use something - put it back (in the right place) . . . trash something - clean it up; now . . .

I simply can't stand a mess . . . anywhere . . . and I hate disorganization. Hell, even the labels on items in my cupboards face out so I can read them. Same with things in the refer.

I know, it's  crazy  . . . but sure makes life easier.

Trash lying around has to be my biggest pet peeve of all time. Dirty dishes is second, followed by dirty linens. Blech!

I don't mind ironing, I like to clean windows - and with our salt-laden south-westerly winds they need doing quite often - and I love gardening.
