Best Shuttle Between DFW And DAL?

Mon Apr 10, 2006 6:32 am

My parents and I will be traveling to visit my sister and her family in a few weeks. What shuttle services exist between DFW and DAL? How much are they?

We need to keep walking to a minimum because dad has bad hips and mom has bad knees. Thanks.

I don't know of any shuttles between the two airports. Looks like renting a car would be the way to go.

There's no shuttle service AFAIK. The distance time wise between the airports can be anywhere from 20 min to 1.5 hrs depending on traffic.

Taxi would be the best way.

How about taking the TRE train from DFW to Dallas then get a DART bus to DAL? You can also take one of the express busses from DFW into Dallas and then change there.

Call SuperShuttle. They'll pick you up right outside the teminal and take you to DAL.

Though some of their links seem to not be working at the moment.

I wouldn't do DART, it could be hard for someone who is not used to the Dallas area.
I'd look into a cab.

With three of you, and your dad needs to favor his hip, I'd either take a cab, or contract with a good car service. I use these guys when I fly out of town for extended trip, saves bothering with parking, etc., and they have been very reliable. Meet you curbside, Lincoln Town Car (or a stretch if you like).

I'd go with what he said, he knows the Dallas area quite well and this service sounds exactly like what Mark is asking for. Check it out Mark, Texan knows Dallas quite well.

I'd say me Sleekjet and UAl747 know Dallas fairly well also, so don't discount our opinion.

I've lived in Dallas since '88

Didn't know you lived there, it just seemed the way Mark was asking was literally a curb side service and the way Patrick stated it seemed the best option.

Why would anyone take DART and TRE. It is VERY inconvenient. You would have to take the No. 39 DART bus to downtown (the wrong direction) and then take the TRE to the middle of nowhere and then wait for the TRE bus to DFW. It would take you the same time to walk there  Wink

Take a taxi or one of the other limo/shuttle options presented by Texan and SCCutler.

(Disclosure: I live in Dallas and fly every week - I know what I'm talking about also).

OK GUYS SORRY!!! I will be good now and won't doubt anyone.

Just thought Patrick gave the best advice because it seemed to fit what Mark requested specifically, now if you'll excuse me Ill go somewhere else.  duck

Listen, avoid the hassle, just hail a cab. That by far is my best advice for you. Not that DART doesn't work, but it's the most simplistic solution to the problem. Though it's gonna cost you like $35-45.

I find it hard to believe that there is NO ground link between DAL and DFW.
Incredible.
But what do I know?

The feuding must REALLY be hot and heavy to completely ignore the needs of the customer. DFW's and DAL's websites don't really address the options at all.

Why do you think some of us found it so stupid that AA moved some flights to DAL?

You can't get between the two airports very easily, makeing your chances of connecting to other AA flights almost zero.

It is the fault of the cities and the consumers. There is no mass transit option because people in the DFW area do not use mass transit. Eventually there will be a connecting rail link, with the connection close by DAL. However, that is not scheduled for completion until 2011-2013. In addition, the rail will only connect to DFW Centreport, which is south of the airport and requires a bus connection to the terminals. Pretty much is just very inconvenient. The current mass transit option is to take the 39 bus from DAL to downtown Dallas, walk over to West End Station, catch the rail to Union Station, transfer to the Trinity Railway Express which will drop you off at DFW Centreport, transfer to the terminal bus, and then wait until you get to the correct terminal. The only two bus lines are the 310 from North Irving Transit Center, which goes to the North Remote Parking, and the 408 bus from Medical/Market Center to DFW Remote South Parking. The 408 bus takes an hour for what is a 25 minute drive when it is not rush hour.

It would be easier if there were a route from DAL to DFW, but that is unlikely in the near future.

The current Dart rail is awesome. I take it everytime I go downtown. I just park my ass on the seat and drift off for the 30 mins it takes to go to downtown.
