Better Understanding Of Poker

Thu Apr 13, 2006 12:34 am

Hi all,

I'm playing poker online from time to time. I can't say I'm doing really well, but it's not going that bad either. Although I know what to do, I'm still in the dark about a few terms.

- Muck Hand
- Big Blind
- Small Blind
- Button
- See the Flop (?)
- Some more I'm sure  Smile

Anyone who can help me out here?

Thx,

Kas

The "muck" is the pile of burnt cards (cards that are either folded by players or discarded when dealing the flop, turn and river).

Therefore mucking your hand means to fold your hand and not show them (you can only do this if you raised and then someone else called you).

The small blind is the smaller of the two mandatory bets made before the hands are dealt. The person playing the small blind is the person to the left of the dealer.

The big blind is the larger of the two mandatory bets made before the hands are dealt. The person palying the big blind sits to the left of the small blind.

Button...that's just the dealer button. Maybe you haven't seen it yet, but its just a small white plastic disc that says "dealer" on it and is used to indicate who is in the dealer position.

See the flop - the flop is the first set of community cards which is dealt (three of them). If you see the flop it means you're in the hand until at least then.

After the flop comes the turn and then finally the river.

Hope that helps. Let us know if you need anything else.

Muck Hand

Discard your hand without showing your cards

Quoting AirKas1 (Thread starter):
Big Blind

$$$ amount that you put when sitting in the second position, clockwise from the dealer, before any cards are dealt

Quoting AirKas1 (Thread starter):
Small Blind

$$$ amount put in the pot by the person immediately to the left of the dealer before any cards are dealt.

Quoting AirKas1 (Thread starter):
Button

Also known as the dealer button, it is a small disk that is moved from player to player in a clockwise direction following each hand, to indicate the dealer of each hand.

See the Flop

???? You need to bet to see the flop
