Anyone Ever Had A Deep Fried Snicker's Bar?

Sat Apr 15, 2006 3:43 am

Anyone? I hear it's real good but I have never had one. Also, there is a place in Salt Lake City that serves a deep fried Twinkie. Anyone have any of these super gluttonous treats that can share their experiences?

Yuk!
Deep fried Brie with a raspberry coulis is nice.

My best friend's alcoholic mother once tried to deep fry sweet corn....

What will people not think of next?

I used to be a big Snickers fan when I was a kid. Now that I know what real chocolate tastes like I don't bother with half-assed candy bars intended for kids. I also don't see how deep frying it would make it any better. Can somebody explain?

It's quite common to deep-fry Mars bar's (Snickers without the nuts) in some areas of Scotland.

Just go to any state fair in the south , and you can get a deep fried........
Oreo
Twinky
Banana
Snickers
Butterfinger
Dough(Elephant ears)
oh yes and even a deep fried cheesburger
(don't ask I haven't tried it...I think my arteries would retaliate before I took a bite.)

Basically though all they really are are the same itens with the fried dough on them

For thoe that haven't had fried dough it is rather tasty with fruit, or sugar cinnamon

No Way. However in my area of the USA, some places deep fry hot dogs to cook them. Isn't their 'deep fried ice cream' too? Then we have fried dough products (Churrlichi? popular with Hispanics) doughnuts, funnel cakes, zeppole and so on. We also have corn dogs, way too many french fries, deep fried fish and breaded meat products. Between the USA and UK, we seem to be comming up with new ways to keep the cardiologist busy and to reduce the average life expectancy.

Mmmm... greeeease!  Wink

I can't think of any likely circumstances under which I'd ever try a deep fried candy something, so no, I haven't done that yet.

That's called a "Ripper". I believe it was started in New Jersey.

The fried candy bars, fruit, and ice cream all use a sweet batter coating. They must be frozen before frying. You cook it just long enough to cook the batter and soften the sweet treat inside.

I deep fry apple rings. Then top them with powdered sugar mixed with cinnamon, caramel, and vanilla ice cream.

I've had the deep fried Snickers, Twinkie, and Oreo cookies at the various state and county fairs. I could never get past the first bite as diebetic coma overcame me very quickly. I like sweet things but those took the cake (pun intended.) I know am at the point that fried food makes me nauseous when eating it. The richness just does me in.

I had a fried banana that sounds a little like what's being described here. It had a waffle-type coating and was drizzled with chocolate sauce. Yum! This was several thousand miles from the southern United States though, so maybe it's not quite the same thing. Also, they didn't deep-fry this concoction. Instead they had a special waffle-iron looking appliance that had molds the size of bananas. You can find a nice little lady selling them at the base of these stairs:

Deep-fried Snickers are okay. I prefer fried Baby Ruths or (best) Reese's Peanut Butter cups. Fried pickle slices (with Ranch dressing) and stuffed olives and stuffed banana peppers are really good.

Twinkies are nasty, and frying them doesn't improve them. Oreos would be better if they were Double Stuf Oreos, I think.

We have a Heart Attack night once a year, where everything is fried.

I forgot about these! Where do you find them? Bob Baumhower's Wings restuarant in various Alabama towns has them. One fried food I will get if on the menu.

We make them ourselves. My friend Shellie has one of those little fryers that sits on your countertop....although I think she may have fried the pickles in a frying pan.

I was at a fair at the Astrodome in Houston while visiting my family last year, I had a deep fried Oreo, Twinky and Mars bar... all very good!!! I wouldn't do it everyday, that could lead to problems, but every once in a while it's fantastic!

They have them annually at the Minnesota State Fair. It's fried on a stick, and delicious. It's coated with this sugary bread which is amazing. It's melty on the inside, and very tasty.

I fry turkeys every year for Thanksgiving and usually experiment before I do the turkey. I have tried to make Twinkies, bananas, and snickers. The Twinkies tasted pretty much like a beineigh sp?. The oil was too hot when I put the snickers in, and it made a huge mess. I will probably try the oreos this year.

That would be the place I had mine. I also had deep-fried ice cream once, oddly enough in a Japanese restaurant

Sorry, have you tried a lot of different things (music, tea, ambien, beer, wine, etc)? Is your health improving? Can we help? Some topics should put you to sleep, though...

I've tried almost everything, I would resort to sleeping pills but my doc has told me to steer clear of them. My health is improving yes, i'd say about 80% back to normal now, slight complications with my leg (cant straighten it) but other then that, the wounds from my attack (2 stab wounds to the stomach) are healing as they should now and that doesnt give me much pain anymore. I'm trying to concentrate on my leg now with itense physiotherapy, so fingers crossed ill be totally back on my feet very soon!

Thanks for asking.
