Ted Nugent: What Do You Think Of Him?

Wed Apr 19, 2006 3:03 am

Not that he's in the news right now, although there was a story about him recently, but what do y'all think of the Motor City Madman?

"Catscratch Fever", and all that.

Some people think that he's a bit reactionary, or even survivalist, in a sense. But I've always found him to be okay.

Well, what say you? Is he a madman or not?

I vote, "Not".  Smile

Plays a mean Gibson guitar.

For all that other stuff - whatever keeps you alive through those cold Michigan winters.

Apparently, according to the Wikipedia, he's now a Texan. However, to me, he'll always be a Michigander.  Smile He still owns his Michigan property, according to Wiki.

What's really sad.VH1 Classic did a bio on him.Before they did,they posted
a political disclaimer on him. That sucks!!!! Instead of VH1 being nuetral,
they took a political stance themselves and showed their hand.

He's a gun fanatic. If he sang this song, it would be autobiographical...

"Got an AK-47, well you know it makes me feel alright
Got an Uzi by my pillow, helps me sleep a little better at night
There's no feeling any greater
Than to shoot first and ask questions later
Now I'm trigger happy, trigger happy every day

Well, you can't take my guns away, I got a constitutional right
Yeah, I gotta be ready if the Commies attack us tonight
I'll blow their brains out with my Smith and Wesson
That ought to teach them all a darn good lesson
Now I'm trigger happy, trigger happy every day

(Oh yeah, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh baby, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh I'm so)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
Better watch out, punk, or I'm gonna have to blow you away

Oh, I accidently shot daddy last night in the den
I mistook him in the dark for a drug-crazed Nazi again
Now why'd you have to get so mad?
It was just a lousy flesh wound, Dad
You know, I'm trigger happy, trigger happy every day

Oh, I still haven't figured out the safety on my rifle yet
Little Fluffy took a round, better take him to the vet
I filled that kitty cat so full of lead
We'll have to use him for a pencil instead
Well, I'm so trigger happy, trigger happy every day

(Oh yeah, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh baby, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh I'm so)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
Better watch out, punk, or I'm gonna have to blow you away

Come on and grab your ammo
What have you got to lose?
We'll all get liquored up
And shoot at anything that moves

Got a brand new semi-automatic weapon with a laser sight
Oh, I'm prayin' somebody tries to break in here tonight
I always keep a Magnum in my trunk
You better ask yourself, do you feel lucky, punk?
Because I'm trigger happy, trigger happy every day

(Oh yeah, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh baby, I'm)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
(Oh I'm so)trigger, trigger happy
Yes I'm trigger, trigger happy
Better watch out, punk, or I'm gonna have to blow you away"

I respect Ted Nugent for his action in helping teach kids and people of all ages the safe, responsible use of firearms and his pragmatic views on hunting responsibly, whether it's with a firearm or bow.

He's very much a Teddy Roosevelt rock n roll conservationist.

Plus, he's not PC and isn't afraid to speak up, so I respect that.

I'm not really a fan anymore (not since I was 15 or so), but I have to admit that anyone who puts out a song called "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" has to have some sense about himself.

Great musician, but too much of an idiot in my books. He even blasted the Ontario Gov't a few years ago when they changed the provinces hunting rules. I hate to say it, but he's a stereotypical Yankee. Seems to feel the world is his to do with as he pleases. Well, up yours, Nug!

Not that I feel all Americans are like this. Far from it.

I agree that he has good music, but he is a nutjob. I saw him open for KISS a few years ago in Houston. He was basically banned for some very racial remarks he made about mexicans. I think they have since allowed him back.

Also:
If it's true, how did they define racism? From a Democratic party point of veiw,
since he's republican?

Here's a follow-up.

About five years ago,Ted made a comment about English.
He's said in his usual, timid and shy delivery:

"If you can't speak English, you should get the F**K out of America.

But that's not racist.

Find another term to stereotype us. Agaaain, you're off-base.  Wink

I would say that the way it was delivered was pretty racist. He did not put it int he same context as it says in the article. By the end he was saying "$#$% Mexicans!". I was there, and am not Mexican, but I was pretty offended (which is really hard to do!). The crowd was booing like crazy, given Houston's huge hispanic population.

political party format, and look at me, I'm trying to defend Nugent
as a saint,which he's not,while others feel he's a racist,amoungest other
comments, but he does have the courage, despite the vocal ruff edges,
speak the truth in a lot of areas. And there has been situations,in Democrats

Southern Baptists, I think, are more prone to be Puritanical than other Southerners.

puritanism - Scrupulous moral rigor, especially hostility to social pleasures and indulgences:

Sounds like our Taliban like Christians that control the government in the South.

I'm usually anti-gun, except in the case of the Midwest and the South, where I think we should hand out free guns to everyone who wants one.

Even I wouldn't support that. Wink

I know that you guys are joking, but consider the ramifications if someone were to make the same statement about Oakland or Chicago.

I wouldn't go quite that far. However, Southern Baptists are clearly much more religiously bound than the norm, and when folks of that order start interfering with science -- which some of them, in the so-called "Intelligent Design" movement are, in my view, doing -- then they're making themselves a sad joke. As the more reasonable majority in this country, we should always strive to preserve a wall between religion and science; these guys are trying to breach it.

I wouldn't make such a statement, either.

I had a chance to interview him on the radio back in 1992. He's a great interview and his wife is  hot . Of all the people I ever interviewed, Nugent, Mr. T, and John Wayne Bobbit surprised me the most. They were nothing like my preconceived notion of them.
Warm winds blowing, heating blue skies, and a road that goes forever, I'm going to Texas!
