Now that's what I call a community service sentence. I think that should be mandatory for all serious criminals offenders in prison (provided they don't have aids, or another disease that prevents them being suitable) to be added on the donor list in the event of death. That way at least they will be paying back taxpayers for putting them up in a 3 star hotel, and the community gets some benefit from the criminals.

I'm sure the US doesn't, but it wouldn't shock me if others did. China doing it doesn't shock me either.

Wow, the Chinese aren't just stocking the shelves down at the Wal-Mart anymore.....

Meth, Counterfeit Money, Ground-to-Air Missles, Ecstasy....anything else?
Oh yeah, a Kidney.

Quote:
Chinese national living in Southern California admitted on Wednesday trying to arrange the sale from China to the United States of 200 shoulder-fired missiles that can be used to bring down airplanes.

Chao Tung Wu, 51, pleaded guilty in Los Angeles federal court to conspiring to import the missiles for a buyer who turned out to be an undercover FBI agent.

When Wu was indicted in November along with another man, Yi Qing Chen, they became the first people charged under a 2004 U.S. law forbidding the import of aircraft-destroying missile systems into the United States, officials said.

Wu, who also admitted to trafficking methamphetamine, counterfeit bills, cigarettes and Ecstasy tablets into the United States

Well only uncivilised countries still executue 'criminals' - so why the surprise that they are recycling? The dead certainly aren't using the parts anymore.

IMHO all body parts should, by default, be available for medical use be it for transplants or medical study. If you don't want your bits used, then you should carry a little card in your wallet that says you prefer not to participate in this, and you are also acknowledging that you are ineligible for transplants yourself.

The idea that somebody is making money out of this is the disgusting part, not the use of the organs.

Do they ground the prisoner's dicks for use an aphrodisiac too?

They seem to have no problem doing that with every friggin' endangered species there is.

I think the problem is that according to various sources apparently Chinese judges are ordered to increase sentencing people to death because the trade with organs turns out to be profitable for the government. They also have populist campaigns against corruption, drugs, dissent etc. from time to time, where the judges have to sentence a certain number of criminals to death in public show trials, without checking individual cases, to make the government appear to be tough on crime. The delinquents usually get paraded through town or in sports stadiums before being shot in a sand pit or a field somewhere out of town. Also lately the Chinese introduced mobile death by injection execution chambers, according again to various sources because this method protects the tissue of the organs to be removed more than the traditional method of execution, a special dumdum type bullet fired at short range from an AK-47 into the back of the head. There exists a series of pictures of an execution of alleged female drug dealers on the internet. Afterwards there was not much left of the heads.
