So I got the job in SLC that I was telling you all about, and I start there May 15th. After a week or two of checking craigslist.com everyday, I found just the place I've been looking for. It's a duplex that's all of about 2 minutes from downtown SLC. It's got the convienence of location, but it's such a quiet sidestreet that I don't feel like I'm living in a big city. I'm within walking distance of a ton of restaurants/bars and my commute is only about 8 minutes out to the office by the airport.
I went down last night and met with the landlord for the 2nd time and I couldn't be happier. He's a young guy who lived in this unit during college and has remodeled the place. He's super attentive and very responsive to my needs. I think that's the best kind of person to rent from, someone who really has an incentive to keep the place up.
Well anyway, I've got some pictures for you. Hope you like 'em! I am way excited! I've got the keys to my very own place!
Any advice? What was your first place like? Traps to avoid falling into? Thanks guys.
Back of the unit. The unit on the right is mine. Nice off the street parking, common green area, basketball hoop, etc.
I really like having the porch for BBQ's in the summer and whatnot. The door on the right leads into one of the 2 bedrooms. I've got the whole east side of the house.
Not a bad looking kitchen. Brand new microwave and cupboards. They're intalling a new dishwasher on Wednesday. The only thing I don't really care for is the teal color of the counters. Oh well. (You'll notice the banister on the right. Leads down to a full basement with washer/dryer and more storage then I'll ever need.)
The ceiling fan will be great in the summer time. This is the front bedroom. I think I'm going to turn it into a computer area/home office. (Notice the new paint!)
