Satelite, Cable Or Something Else...which Do You H

Sun Apr 30, 2006 12:55 am

As the title suggests ,what do you have. I have Rogers Digital Cable. Around 400 channels I'm guessing.

I am one of those people who mainly watch TV when weather is bad. Therefore I have dumped my satellite setup in desperation, because it would stop working in heavy rain or snow. And you can't get legal subscriptions for the more interesting channels in Switzerland (they're all from Germany or Italy). And those semi-illegal smartcards don't work very well.

Now I'm a digital cable TV subscriber, "only" around 110 channels but it's just what I need. It always works, no problem in bad weather, and no tinkering with decryption software.

I have cable TV with 30+ channels and most of them are rubbish. Additionally I have "Premiere" pay-TV for sports, they show every 1st Bundesliga game, every 2nd Bundesliga game, and every Champions League game live, you can also watch the games in a video conference so that you can see every goal. Additionally you can see NFL, MLB, NBA games and sports from all around the world like South American football, etc.

No TV set for 4 years now. Getting rid of it did a lot of good things to me.

I have satellite: SKY. Since Directv left this market, is either SKY or digital cable. Satellite has been working well, so I will keep it.

Doesn't anybody use Rabbit ears anymore?

A little tinfoil on them and they can really bring in the channels!

I have PeasantVision. 4 channels of grainy, ghosted pictures that sometimes get better and sometimes get worse when my neighbor upstairs moves around.

Yes, I do. They are sitting on top of an Lycoming piston- it makes the picture slightly better. I think it is slightly more classy than tin foil  Wink

For $ reasons, I did not get cable when I moved here. I only turn on my TV once every two weeks or so. Even though things can get very boring around here, I think I am better off for not getting cable or satellite.

Have Foxtel Satellite. There is the Transact cable running past my house, got installed about 7 years ago but has never been switched on, so simply no access. Not that I would Transact is overpriced and has little content worth the expense.

GCI Cable - the only cable game in town - and they SUCK.

I'd install satellite TV IF my condo faced the south side of the building. Hazards of living in The Last Frontier . . . in the winter, with the Earth's rotation as it is, I wouldn't be able to use the Satellite if it were mounted on a north facing wall.

Alas, I'm stuck with GCI Cable at home.

At work, we have DishNetwork. We draw in 31 channels up here. Not bad at all for the Arctic Ocean.

Currently my family has Comcast Digital Cable. It's alright I guess. I'm satisfied with the number of channels (don't remember how many I have). Satisfied with sports channels (especially MLB Extra Innings Big grin ) and glad they have added BBC America and AZN to it (primarilly watch those channels for BBC News, Biz China, Philippines Tonight, etc.). One thing I wish was available though was some NY channels like YES, SNY, etc.
