What To Do And Where To Stay In Bergen

What to do and where to stay in Bergen

I am going for 3-4 days to Bergen in the beginning of June (have to use my eurobonus points before they will expire).
One day I am going to the place named stoulen (or some thing like this).
What else I can do in Bergen? Also I am looking for some inexpensive place to stay. (travel agency propose me either something very expensive or some 12 km from the city center  Sad )

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If you have the time, take the train to Flåm for a day trip. Look up prices with NSB and just put in Bergen and Flåm.

There's also Bryggen, with all the old houses and outdoor restaurants. Akvariet is Europe's largest collection of saltwater creatures.

Fløybanen is also a nice ride on a cable car up to the top of one of the mountains surrounding Bergen.

I hope you aren't planning on using those in Norway? As the great Norwegian government decided bonus points for flying was bad for competition and made them worthless in Norway.

Does it mean that I can not fly Oslo-Bergen-Oslo using Eurobonus points?

Sorry, my bad. I guess you can USE points in Norway, just not EARN them. Are you paying for the ticket to Oslo? You could fly TLL-OSL-BGO for the same amount of miles as just OSL-BGO.

No I am going to fly TLL-OSL-BGO (I hope there will be tickets available  Smile )
Of course first I have to find some reasonable accommodation.

Another place you could look to go is TLL-OSL-ALF. This will bring you way up north in Norway to the midnight sun. Rent a car and drive to Nordkapp (North Cape).

Not quite as far north is TOS. It's nicknamed "Paris of the North".

Another option is TLL-OSL-SVG. I lived here for two years, so I can give more personal opinions there. Things to see include the oil museum, Prekestolen (Pulpit Rock) and more.

Unless of course, you are going to BGO for a reason  Smile

I have been to Nordcap in 2002. Nice place and perhaps one day I will go back, but now I am interested to visit some thing new. Perhaps take a boat trip to explore fjord or even go for a half day walk to the mountains.

Which (BGO or SVG) have more interesting? I mean architecture, some nature around? mountains?

Bergen, hands down in my mind.

I'll agree with Thomas on this. Bergen is much closer to the mountains than Stavanger is. There is a ferry that goes in Lysefjorden outside Stavanger, but you only get to see it from the boat.

Architecture I guess is about the same. They are both influenced by Hanseatic style in the older parts of both cities.
