Where Are You Going To College Next Year?

Fri May 05, 2006 10:49 am

I couldn't find a thread for it. I'm finally almost done with high school and moving onto college. So are some of you others out there. So my question is where are you going to college next year?

I was enrolled at the University of Southern California, but I just got accepted off the waiting list at Duke University, where I will be attending next year. I hope to start (or join) an aviation club there.

I'm headed out to the University of North Dakota (Grand Forks, ND) in August as a freshman. I'll be a double major in commercial aviation and aviation management.

Have fun at Duke. They've got one hell of a lacrosse team from what I've heard Wink.

Dartmouth College. After working my butt off for four years in high school, it really paid off. I'm thrilled, quite honestly. The only downside? Piddly little LEB is the only airport in the area, with four B1900 flights a day to LGA on US.

Congrats guys, some mighty fine schools are represented here on a-net.

I'll be entering my second and final year of graduate school at the University of Iowa. It's gonna be a good year.

congratulations to all...4 years of new experience and beautiful life await you !
An interesting note I heard about Duke....apparently the architecture is very similar to Princeton...it was built to resemble Princeton (including the making the stairs concave, due to age in Princeton, but made to order in duke ! Glasses broken purposely to be repaired with lead ? as they used to do when glass was expensive to replace)...the reason ? I dont know if this is true: Duke wanted to give money to Princeton but wanted the university be called Duke U. Princeton refused and he built Duke ! Is it true ?

I'm not sure about the Duke trivia...

Cory6188, I applied to Dartmouth but got rejected... I never got the chance to visited, but it seems like an amazing school!

Good luck to the rest of you!

Next year will be my third year at King's College London.

They're piloting a new third-year curriculum on craniofacial development, and I've been selected as one of the small pilot group of "guinea pig" students. (The number of students is very small). I'll actually be working with a professor in her laboratory on the 27th floor of Guy's Hospital, London, on a research project in craniofacial development. (The KCL Department of Craniofacial Development is based on the 27th floor of Guy's Hospital).

By the way, if I get a Wellcome Trust summer student research grant this summer, I'll be involved in a supervised student research project in the same department over 8 weeks this summer.

King's College London is a leading research institution in the field of craniofacial development and deformities, a field I'm really pursuing as a career.

I got accepted to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Universtiy at Prescott, AZ, but medical and financial reasons have precluded me from both attending that university and becoming an airline pilot.

Now, since I'm re-thinking what I'm going to do with myself, I'm gonna do a community college for a year or two. I figure, what's the point of plunking down $10,000 per year for a university when I can pay $3000 or less per year at a local place and then transfer, especially when I don't even know what I want to do?

Next year, I'll be continuing my pursuit of a Master's in IT at Villa Julie college. You've probably never heard of it because it's very small, but it's a good school. Another perk: it's just minutes from BWI !

My sister has been accepted to Duke Law, and she's planning to attend next year as well. Congrats on your acceptance!

Heading off to U of C (University of Calgary) next year...

I'm not sure what i'm majoring in yet, but I applied for a BSc in Physics, but I figure I'll take some general courses for my first year, and then decide what I actually want to get into.
Shut up and calculate.

Who knows. The main option is the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), but I'm seriously considering going abroad. I'm so tired of this country...

 bigthumbsup

Depending on the finances, I'll be looking at either UND (their FTC in Lumberton, NC - double major in Aviation/Aiport Management) or staying in province here and attending the University of Western Ontario for thier Management & Occupational Studies - Aviation Management. I've got a year to go.. fun fun  Smile
