That's It, It's Over!

Sun May 07, 2006 7:14 am

Well Ladies and Gents, the 2005/2006 football campaign has come to an end, for some a good one, others an OK one and the unlucky one's... A sad one.

Myself being a Rochdale fan, this season has been a bad one with us on the brink of relegation at one point. I went to Lincoln today and watched Rochdale draw 1-1, and lincoln clinch a play off spot, On tuesday night I watched Rochdale get beaten and Carlisle win the Championship at our ground. However we are safe and are preparing to play our 35th Season in League 2/Division 3 next year. It's got to the point now, where people cannot be bothered to attend fixtures due to the team's lack of passion and the clubs lack of success. I don't know how much more people can take!

Oxford United won the League cup 20 years ago, today they were relegated from the football league.
When Accrington Stanley were relegated from the League many years ago, Oxford were the team who replaced them, today the tables turned! What a coincidence!

This is just a post to remind people that football does happen outside the Premiership. And it's a lot different down here, manager's having little or no money to spend on players and improving the team. Abramovich... Got any spare cash?

Here is how things ended up in League 2, the bottom League.
Carlisle Champions, Northampton and Leyton Orient... automatic promotion.
Oxford United and Rushden & Diamonds both relegated. Grimsby, Cheltenham, Wycombe, Lincoln all in the play offs.

See you all next season!

Stockport rescued themselves once again I see! The Forest Green of League 2  Smile

I'm hoping Morecambe can replace Oxford, kicking off tomorrow with the first leg of the playoff semis, live on Sky Sports at 5:35 tomorrow.

A little sad to see Rushden & Diamonds getting relegated. I started following them a number of years ago when they played Leeds Utd. in the FA Cup.

As much as I dislike seeing any team relegated. I do not like R&D, due to them being a 'plastic' club. They don't fit in with the football league.

Not as much attention as first thought! So, anybody else on here support a League 2 team?

I will next season...  Silly

1-1 to the referee today - gave a penalty for a 'handball' which wasn't, and a goal was disallowed for offside - which it wasn't. And this is according to people who saw the replays on Sky!

Morecambe. Played Hereford at home in the first leg of the Conference playoff semi-final.

Oh right, I'm in 2 minds as to whether I want you or Halifax in the league! Halifax is so close, but Morecambe seems like a good away day!

No Barlick Park Rovers? That's a shame. Well, maybe next time?
