Premiership: Spurs Game In Doubt.

Sun May 07, 2006 9:19 pm

Spurs' crucial game at West Ham is in doubt after seven of their players went down with food poisoning.

Tough luck! Make them play. Looks like a last minute ploy to avoid the game so they'll know what they need to do in the re-arranged match. The're not gonna be in the Champions League next season either way!

I wonder what the source of food-poisoning is?

Assuming it's true (which i'd of thought it was), the teams usualy have lunch at their traning ground during the week while/after training, maybe that's the source, I mean, for more than 1 to be ill, must mean they all ate something the same ?
Anyone know who the players/goalkeeper who are ill are ?

I have never heard of illness happening to so many members of a team in a sport that I can recall and pulling so many from play. In a sense of fair sportmanship, can they delay the game to a later date?
One has to wonder if some intentional foul play took place  innocent

Maybe a rogue Arsenal fan gained access to Spurs' lunch. Big grin

Seem like it costed Spurs the 4th place and their CL place. Anyways, Gooners had a second chance in Paris so I guess it was faith?

Err, no! They could've lost and still finished 4th, but alas, it wasn't to be. Still, better luck next year, eh?

Turns out they were sick thanks to the French chef at the hotel:

They couldn't. They had to play the final matches simultaneously, and it would have been unfair on Arsenal to re-arrange their match, with the Champions League final next week, and it would also have been unfair on West Ham, with the FA Cup final next week.

Unfortunate for Spurs, certainly, but going ahead with the game was the only thing that could happen.
