This annoyed me and since airliners.net is a gripe fest, I thought I'd rant here.
My mother, who has Alzheimer's, was hospitalized last evening and I only got about 4 hours of sleep. I was exhausted this morning and had a lot weighing on my mind thinking about her plus my obligations at work.
So I'm waiting in line at the coffee counter at this place, just deep in my thoughts, and the guy in front of me apparently had said hello me and I didn't realize it. So he said it again and I said "Hi." Again, I was pretty out of it and really needed the coffee to wake up.
So then he says, "You must be from the North, right? People up North don't like people talking to them." and walked away offended that I wasn't miss Chatty Patty. (BTW, he didn't appear to be a Southerner, so this isn't about the Southern hospitality thing.)
Okay, sorry, but sometimes people have stuff on their minds and don't necessarily have random people on the radar screen. It really annoys me.
Is it just me, or do you find idle chatter annoying at times? God I really hope I'm not turning into one of those people who are annoyed by the general population.
