Makes me want to stay away from McDonald's, if they are going to have those things around.

I feel sorry for the parents that had to audition their babies for that, I'm thinking there were probably around 30K babies just for that picture. The child advertising industry is a tough business.

Might sound morbid, but it kinda looks like the kid is dead and being displayed in a coffin. Freak's me out!

Believe it or not, I was thinking exactly the same for the first 3 seconds after I looked at it.

Can any Indian A.netter enlighten us why the chose such a photo for the ad?

Also poor baby getting his/her hair coloured red.. I hope it is computer animated, because artificial colour might contain a lot of toxic ingredients.

It looks pretty fake though

Looks like that freaky Japanese boy in the movie "The Grudge". All he needs to do is meow like a cat.

I suppose the kid is symbolic of that location just opening but it is quite hideous.

On a side note, what are the hamburgers made of there given the sacredness of the cow in Indian culture? They opened one the day I left Bangalore so I never got to visit it.

If that worries you, how about...

1. The pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers consumed by the cows that are made into burgers?
2. The hormone treatments and antibiotics given to the cows directly?

By law (US) none of these 'ingredients' can be tested on children, but they can be sold to children in the form of happy meals without any issue. Doesn't really make much sense does it?

I think that Mc Donald's India is only serving vegetarian, chicken and fish products. I am not 100% sure but I think that they even have a home delivery service. Are there other countries where Mc D's offers a delivery service?

All this assumes that there is actual beef in a McDonald's burger.

There is where I live. It's mostly from cows grazing where there used to be rainforests in South America from what I understand. Can't say what's in the patty in India, but I'd guess most McD's have beef in their patties.

Click on the link I posted. No beef, no pork. Couldn't have made it any more simple.

Your link is to a company page. As discovered during the big French fry debacle, you can put a lot of ingredients under the label "natural flavors" and other such terms without revealing what's really included.

In any case, even if everything on the McD's page is 100% accurate and stands up to even the most critical scrutiny, the issues I raised still apply to their chicken products and there are similar issues associated with eating fish.

These issues aren't specific to McDonald's though, and in fact McDonalds has generally been among the more responsible fast-food chains in recent years.

Sorry, I thought my entire post was obvious enough not to need a smiley.

It was a reference to the relatively low beef content of the McDonald's patty. They do use a lot of filler, soy-based I'd guess. We just bought a bunch of chuck roast at $1.99 a pound and had it ground into hamburger. The resultant burgers tasted absolutely unlike anything Ray Kroc ever stuffed in a paper bag. In fact REAL beef burgers are superior to any fast-food burgers including my current fave IN-N-OUT.

As one comedian put it:

"I see McDonald's has just sold their billionth burger. If that keeps up they will have to slaughter another cow."

Good one, Slam!

I guess this goes to show that different things sell in different places.
