Just plain air temperature...Las Vegas at 115 F.

Overall heat and humidity nastiness...Gainesville, FL inside of Florida Field in the lower sections (below ground level) with the temp about 98 F posted but the thermometers on the field showing 130 F with 100% humidity right after a rainstorm. They were dragging the opposing players off the field with cramps and fans out of the stadium with heatstroke.

Here in Florence last year it reached 44c on one day. Kept cool by drinking lots of water & air conditioning.

Hottest place that isn't home, was Antigua, which was in the high 30's. Kept cool by drinking copious amounts of Wadadli (sp?) and going in the sea/pool.

Casa Grande National Monument in Arizona, August 2003. I don't know the temperature, but the sun burned down with a ferocity that I never knew possible. Fortunately, the very low humidity made a visit to the Indian ruins tolerable.

And don't forget what you have to do with your tools in weather like that. Leave em out in the sun, they get hot enough to burn the hell out of your hands.

You get yourself a cookie tray and put about half an inch of jet fuel in it then leave your wrenches in the jet fuel.

Dallas, Texas, summer 2000. 69 straight days over 100 F. 10 straight over 110 F. 3 straight at 120 F. Went outside and played roller hockey against my brother. Lost 10 pounds. Came back, took cold shower, spent the rest of the day inside with the air conditioning. The bad part was driving around town in my car, whose air conditioning only worked from October through May  Silly And the blacktop at work made it just that much more unbearable.

In a huge lumber drying kiln for a few minutes. Couldn't stand it any longer and walked back outside to a 50°F (about 9°C) foggy night and just about thermal-shocked. We went around to the boiler room and learned that, inside the kiln, it had been 170°F (about 76°C) and 100% humidity because of the water being baked out of the two hundred thousand board feet of 'green' redwood lumber.

Out in the world, highest actual temperature I've seen was in Death Valley California. Between Scotty's Castle and Ubehebe Crater it was 124°F (about 51°C) and we decided not to go down to Furnace Creek that day.

Most uncomfortable. Even though I've lived a year in the Mekong Delta of South Vietnam and a couple of years in Panama and a year or so between Imperial California and Yuma Arizona, the worst was Fort Bragg North Carolina one August. Every day I flew there I sweat through my flight suit everwhere I was in contact with anything - seat, parachute harness, straps. Sweat just ran down out from under my helmet. I was dying and coulnd not wait to get back down to Panama.

Death Valley, USA - The hottest place on earth!
Everglades, Florida, US - Extremely high humidity together with high temperatures makes it almost unbearable. I believe the humidity is 100% most of the time.

Mexico - very hot too! That is where I got my worst sunburn ever.
Bali - As bad as Mexico but I didn't get as bad a sunburn as I did in Mexico
Fiji - Very very hot sometimes too
Singapore was also quite hot, due to the humidity.
Hong Kong
Morocco

Its hard to say which one was the worst, but they were all extremely hot places (especially for a scandinavian where our summers never go above 30c and the avg temperature during summer is 20c  Wink )

Egypt a few years ago, was supposed to walk around the Temple of Karnak (spelling?) but just couldn't - the heat was so intense it was hard to breathe -We stayed in the coach with the AC, so missed that one!

The whole holiday was the same, the only relief was the pool on the boat we were on on the Nile.

Oh, I forgot, try Evansville Indiana on a August day with 100 degrees and 99.9% humidity, I will take a desert any day. The humidity combined with the heat will knock you down and take your breath away.

Only answer is AC on max day and night.

Kyoto this summer, the thermometer read 48 degrees celcius, that 118 in fahrenheit. Ridiculously humid, and no wind at all. I thought I was gonna pass out at times... lots of water got me through  bigthumbsup

Riyadh. Above 50c most of the summer. Like being in an oven.

It was so hot once that the wheels melted on my suitcase as I pulled it the short distance between the hotel and the car.

When it's like that I just stay in and turn up the AC.
and with that..cabin crew, seats for landing please.

Phoenix - SkyHarbor Airport in the middle of summer. Was 110 degrees out there, and on a 2 hour layover, I thought I would go spotting on the top of the T4 garage. Lasted up on the top floor a mere 10 minutes before going down one floor where there was at least shade...went back into the terminal a few minutes later to catch my connection though.

Kuwait in the summer. The city temp was around 125 - 130. When I was out on the ramp with the jet exhaust it was pushing 140 - 145, I think my eyes were melting.

Hottest:
Franschhoek, South Africa - (115 degrees) - Our first day in the country and went wine tasting  Smile We later met some Russians who had arrived the day before from Moscow!!

Calico, CA, USA - (110 degrees) - Out there in the middle of nowhere on my first visit to CA back in 1990. Just dry heat...

Poitiers, France - (110 degrees) - Can remember going to stay with some friends in the mid 1990s and we stopped off at Futuroscope to break up the journey. The worst bit was running across the tarmac in the parking lot in bare feet!

Quoting Rossbaku (Reply 9):
Phuket, Thailand

Strange. I've only been to Phuket a few times but never found it as unbearable as Bangkok which is hot and humid. Ick.

Had a chance to spend a full day in August in PHX last year. Hated the weather. Here in SMF it can easily hit 105F/40C, but the nights are almost always in the 70F/20C range, so you get a chance to cool off and feel cool the next morning. During my stay in PHX, went out at midnight, and the temp had managed to come down to about 95F/35C only! There is no cooling breeze there.

sorry, Bo, that ain't diddley.

Coldest I was in was in northern New Hampshire, winter of 1968. The temps never got above about 25 below zero f for a week, and the lowest temperature recorded during that spell at the weather station in Littleton, N.H. six miles away was 54 degrees below zero f. which is -48 celsius.

2, Australia - while I was in Adelaide, for 1 week it never got less than 30C at night and was 45C during the day and I ended up getting a cold !!!. Probably because of going from outside in the heat into freezing air conditioned buildings/vehicles !!.

That happened always to me when I was in Singapore, definitely because of the constant change between air conditioned buildings/cars and ~35°C outside temperature. I always left Singapore with a cold.
