Going to be in Frankfurt over the weekend and wondering what I should be getting up to.
Will have the whole day on Friday and at least a bit of Saturday to do the touristy thing and all that.
I hear that Frankfurt is a very dull and boring place that was mostly destroyed during the war.
All I have been advised about so far is to go to Sachsenhausen for some authentic food and drink and a bunch of lovely old restaurants. I guess that part of the city wasn't destroyed during the War.
If anyone from Frankfurt or that knows the city could advise me on what to see and what to do I would be most appreciative.
I am also planning a trip out of the city by car and have been presented with a number of options:
Wiesbaden (spa town)
Stuttgart (2.5 hours, perhaps I could see the MBZ factory)
Karlsruhe (dunno what there is to do there)
Wuerzberg (great food, lovely drive through the forests, the citadel, good wine)
Ruedesheim (wine town filled with american and british tourists apparently)
If anyone could shed light on these options and perhaps suggest others that would be great.
Anything I should buy in Germany that I can't find elsewhere, incidentally?
