My favorite cartoon is "The Boondocks." Give it a few weeks and my answer will probably change.

I am a huuuuuge fan of Tom and Jerry as far as classic cartoons go. No words needed with those guys--the sound effects and music do it all. And every time one of them breaks the fourth wall, I crack up. Kind of like ANC's Coyote and Road Runner, but with more variety of locales and gambits.  Smile The Flintstones were great, too--you can't beat an animated combo of The Honeymooners and I Love Lucy.

Also, the original Disney Afternoon stuff is *classic*. I have the Chip 'n' Dale: Rescue Rangers and Duck Tales DVD sets on my amazon.com wishlist. Sadly, they don't have Tale Spin or Darkwing Duck out yet. But I'm holding out hope.  crossfingers

As for more current fare, I love Fairly Oddparents and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends--love the grown-up humor in both. Spongebob Squarepants is ok, but I'm not generally a fan of blubbering cartoon morons that panders to eight year olds.

OK, I'll pee in this pool...

I'm a big fan of a few of the FOX and [adult swim] shows.

- Family Guy
- Futurama
- Harvey Birdman
- Boondocks
- Venture Bros
- Sealab 2021

Others that rule:

- King of the Hill
- The Critic
- Beavis and Butthead

But, I think The Oblongs, Minoriteam and the anime blocks suck. The Simpsons is past its prime, IMO.

I don't get into these adult-oriented "cartoons".

Give me:

-Tom and Jerry
-Bugs
-Roadrunner and wylie E. Coyote
-The Flinstones

I must say though, that the sheer stupidity of Bevis And Butthead had me rolling quite a bit.

Scooby Dumb and the various "guests", i.e. Three Stooges, Don Knotts(sp?), Globetrotters, etc. messed it up a bit for a while as well.

That's definitely my favorite of those that were being produced when I was a kid but as has been mentioned the Roadrunner, Tom & Jerry, etc. are classics and will always be funny.

Incidentally, saw a great short about "training" military dogs during WWII on AMC last night. Absolutely hilarious, particularly when the subject dog was training in the area where tank camouflage was being practiced. This was on during some dead time after Donovan's Reef.

As for the cartoons being made today(or within the last 5 or so years), I like Dexter's Lab, Futurama, and a few others.

In no particular order:

The Simpsons
Tom & Jerry
Looney Toones
Disney eg. Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, etc.
Garfield
Lucky Luke
Tin Tin
Roadrunner

And for some reason I really enjoy watching Dexter & DeeDee Big grin

There are probably a few others that I have missed but this is what I can come up with at the moment.

Regarding that modern stuff, I'm surprised no-one has mention Cow & Chicken. Cow & Chicken had me almost peeing with laughter. Unfortunately now Cartoon Network (NL) has opted to dub the cartoons. Cow & Chicken in Dutch is plain stupid!

You know, I was watching adult swim earlier and an episode of Robot Chicken came on. I absolutely love that show and think it's one of the freshest bits on TV. Anyway, it got me thinking: does programming such as Robot Chicken count as a cartoon? Or is it something else entirely?  scratchchin

Here's a Family Guy clip with Stewie Griffin. If you are a Family Guy fan I suggest you take a look at it. I laughed so hard.

My picks:

-Transformers (80's original only)
-Smurfs (80's original)
-Thundercats (they didn't last long did they not?)
-Most Disney movies.
-The Simpsons.

Anyone remember Bart's one and only music video? I think its called "Do the BartMan" that was funny.

Yup, these two are still at each other, thanks to the wonderful world of reruns and even new programming. Cartoon Network runs T&J cartoons on weekdays and I try and catch them whenever I can. There's also been a lot of post-MGM stuff done with these two, but I don't think that any of it has been up to the original. However, there is apparently a new bunch of 'toons on the way, according to their wiki.
