Fri Jun 02, 2006 12:03 am

Check this car out. I may buy it, depending on how high the bids go!

Well at least now I would have a great excuse for speeding. "But officer I HAVE to get up to 88 miles per hour to activate the flux capacitor, so I can get back to 1985!"

Only in L.A. They take a pristine classic DeLorean, and make a "replica" out of it.

Rule #843 of eBay'ing: Never, ever let others know about an item you're looking to bid on, it'll only attract bidders and push the price higher. Corollary to this rule: If you're the seller, go right ahead and let *everybody* know.  Wink

Makes you wonder if these were studio guys with access to the prop closet and a lot of free time.  Yeah sure

I'd much rather have that floating skateboard thingy thing...

All it needs is an '85 California plate displaying 'OUTATIME' on it.

Seriously, if I had the cash, I would so buy this car.

That is so cool. I'd love that car.

I heard that they were actually made for real, but never passed some kind of certification, so were never allowed to be sold to the public. They were discovered in some dusty lot somewhere by the makers of the film looking for "futuristic" items to use. Don't know how true that is though !!!.

That is a pretty cool car and would be fun to drive a few times but I found some other cars on ebay that fit my taste a little better, maybe some of you guys know about these cars.
Mercedes SLRs,Porsche Carrera GTs, Ford GTs, Old Shelby Mustangs, Audi A8 W12, Lamborghini Gallardo, Viper SRT10. Now those are some nice cars on Ebay.

A friend of mine's dad had a factory DeLorean. It was a sweet ride. They lost it in a housefire.

I've seen people driving batmobiles, mach 5's, scooby-doo vans...the works. I don't think I'm a fan of anything so much to do that to a classic car. Of course, replicating anything seriously conflicts with my flare for originality.

btw Westy, are you still working on that magic trick to make my pants disappear when you see me?

Yeah they were made for real, in Ireland. The company went down the pan - I think cos the car didn't sell very well. Whoever had the idea to make a car body out of stainless steel needs his head examined.

I was reffering to the "hoverboards" that were used in the film, I know the car was made in Northern Ireland - Belfast actually.

There is a brief history of the company here :-

It's untrue. I have the Back to the Future DVD set, and one of the extra features addresses that very question. They were never made for real and infact showed how they created the hoverboard effect using wires and primitive CG.
