Lethal Weapon Movies

Mon Jun 05, 2006 6:45 am

OK you Hollywood insiders, will there be anymore "Lethal Weapon" movies produced? They are a great series of movies, my favorite is the third one.

I really doubt it. The franchise has run its course for being high-concept. The only thing I can imagine is a remake of the original with a new generation of actors.

There could be, who knows? Although since the last one, Mel Gibson and Danny Glover have gone in radically different directions. Even though they're friends, they're polar opposites politically nowadays, which might be fun to incorporate into a movie.

On a side note, I remember hearing about 2 years ago, Gibson had given an OK to do another "Mad Max" movie, but I guess that fell apart. I didn't like the first two, but did like "Thunderdome".

I'd like to see both done again.

Gibson as the devout Catholic and Glover as the anti-war protester would make a terrible movie. But...given the crap coming out of Hollyweird lately I wouldn't be surprised if some sort of treatment has been passed around with this very plot.

Who said you play it that way? Challenge them, and have them play just the opposite. Riggs was the wildman anyway, and Murtaugh the family man. Make Glover the conservative, and Gibson the liberal.  Big grin

I like the line: Murtaugh: "Yeah, it says jus what that says, but I don't give a fuck."

Now that would be funny. I'll give you that one.

Kind of like Alan Alda playing the "evil" Republican on The West Wing.

- That was actually a Rigg's line from the second movie when their captain asked Rigg's what the sign on the wall said concerning smoking. Rigg's was smoking a cigarette in their captain's office.
