Your Most Shameless Singalong Tracks

Mon Jun 05, 2006 10:45 am

There have been numerous threads about what music people are listening to, and most replies claim tracks by the likes of Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys et al, but . . . what are the tracks you shamelessly sing along to when there is nobody around? Or worse, with enough alcohol on board, when there ARE people around?

I'm not talking about worthy or serious music here, but the stuff you wouldn't be caught dead buying.

I'll start the ball rolling: No 2 The Ketchup Song, by Las Ketchups, or whatever they call themselves, and No 1 Dragostea Din Tea, by the Romanian group O-Zone. Made all the more enjoyable by the link posted by someone here last week:

How about "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses; "Valley Girl" by Moon Unit and Dweezil Zappa. Shameless 80s music...

My list is never ending....

Always sing along to the following - when alone. I have the worst singing voice is the world.

Lawyers, Guns, and Money - The late, great Warren Zevon
All the Ways I want You - Jimmy Buffet cover of a Bruve Cockburn song
Hero - David Crosby
Uncle John's Band - The Grateful Dead
Sweet Baby James - James Taylor
Angel from Montgomery - John Prine
Silver Thunderbird - Marc Cohn
Ideas are Like Stars - Mary Chapin Carpenter
My Old School - Steely Dan
I still haven't found what I'm Looking for - U2

and of course...number one on the sing along top 11

You Can Call Me Al - Paul Simon

Don't ask me why, 'cause I got sick of KFRC playing it at 8:02am every single damned morning for about 2 months, but ...

Don't Go Breakin' My Heart by Elton John and Kiki Dee.

Now there are others I sing along to, but nothing I wouldn't be caught dead buying that I can think of.

Kaiser Chiefs - practically the entire 'Employment' album.

The Automatic - Monster is also a good singalong at the moment, particularly on a drive home from work!

Congratulations, you are forever banned from my RU list.  bigthumbsup

I must admit I don't sing any embarresing songs when I'm alone. But the ones I do sing in my car (while waiting for a radio to be fitted some day) are various songs by A Perfect Circle, particularly "The Noose", "Pet", "The outsider" and "Passive". Also most of the songs by Lumsk...

I don't sing or bother listening to rubbish songs.  Smile

Truth be told, I'll sing along to any song as long as I know the lyrics.

You want embarrassing tracks? You'll usually find me singing a Backstreet Boys song!  embarrassed
Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.

My Old School - Steely Dan

You do know of course that Steely Dan was named after an item they found in a dildo shop...

I recently dug up an old Quiet Riot CD. Cum on Feel the Noize is hell of a song to in the car.

The only thing you should feel when shooting a terrorist: Recoil.

Oh God! Spare us the sanctimonius crap! This thread is about shameless, rubbish music.

Do us a favour an save your music snobbery for one of the "What I'm listeing to" threads. Everybody lists the music they want to be seen to be listening to. And nobody else is interested.
