I'm keeping my hopes alive with Togo

Togo 1-0 Swiss
Saudi 0-3 Ukraine
Spain 3-0 Tunisia

I don't actually think Togo will win tomorrow, but i have a bet on them so i have to keep faith  Wink. I reckon we'll beat France though, they look average at best.

TOG 0 - 1 SUI Let's hope Togolese turn up to play.
KSA 0 - 2 UKR
ESP 2 - 0 TUN

KSA/TUN was a great game last round - a real surprise package - but I'm not sure that either are up to the standards of Spaine and Ukraine.

True, but needless to say, if they show up and experience yet another National Anthem fiasco like in the last game, then I fear they'll walk out again. Plus I don't know why Otto Pfister still bothers with the Togolese Federation, after saying that he will pursue legal action against the Togolese official who accused him of being an Alcoholic.

I was never good at predictions, but here goes:

TOG 1X2 SUI
KSA 1X1 UKR
ESP 2X1 TUN

I thought that Togo's internal dispute had ended, so they still might not show up?
That would be a first, and a shame because they play well.

It would be a real shame, but if the Federation can't get its act together, then Switzerland would probably win through a forfeit.

It is not over really. Today FIFA had a "chat" with the players and they were told about "dire and serious consequences" if they do not show up. I'll stop short of saying they were threatened, but it certainly must not have been a friendly conversation. So FIFA is making sure they'll show up. If they show up, will they do anything on the field?

At the same time FIFA and the Togolese federation are "talking".

The way I see it, the players face the same issue:

If they don't show up, each of them will probably be banned, from playing within any league under FIFA's umbrella, if not for life, then for a long time. That basically is a career ending proposition. Unless they go an play God knows where.

The Togolese Federation is sure going to be more than reprimanded. I don't know if it can actually be expelled, but surely it will be banned from tournaments or even not recognized for a good amount of time. So Togolese players will not be recognized by FIFA, since their Federation is banned. Also career ending proposition for players.

Both end up screwing up the players, to the same degree. So, what incentive do they have to show up?

No I think UKR has a lot to make good for so they will fight and score.
KSA... I don't know. I mean ok they tied TUN, but to use a German phrase:
Das war Not gegen Elend und die waren beides. Even if both were both.
So UKR is the much better team even if they lost to ESP.

That was not, just my opinion (also if maybe not too neutral)! But swiss are playing very bad, at least from the goal until the end of the period... It seems to watch to Luzern-Sion or something like that, they should wake up, one goal is far too less!!!! We need at least one more goal so we can tie with Corea!!

For some reason its summer now and I always wake up around 9-10AM CDT so I've usually missed most of the action from the first game. Anyways 1-0 lead for the swiss now so I'll watch the rest of this one.

KSA players were visibly 'down' from the second the game started. Then the keeper gave away the corner and I noticed *twice* on both first two corners, in one case a KSA player physically took the arm of a defender to put him where he should be and then on the second the keeper again took the arm of a defender and pulled him to the front of the UKR player he was covering from his back as if they have those rookie kids who don't know where to stand on the field. Seeing that I knew this didn't seem to be their day and then came the goal.

I am not familiar with the individual KSA players but they have a long history of being a force to be reckoned with. One would think they wouldn't need to rely on rookies. I didn't see their last game, but I expected better.

Their offence is not too bad, their defence is crap from the keeper to the defenders, I am not sure how this will end now.

Another UKR GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!
It was a great shot no doubt about that but the defence is guilty of making that possibility. Things getting hopeless for the Saudis and their attitude isn't helping. As if their offence seem to be the only players supposed to play.

Keep lying down and hope the referee forgets to give the card.

And here is what the Saudi offence is up against: KSA has never scored more than 2 goals in a world cup.
They are going home, congrats Ukraine. I doubt KSA can come back.
