### I Need Some Measurements Please

I am taking a math class this summer and I need some information for a project. I need 12 people to give their height in inches and the distance from their elbow to their wrist in inches. The elbow to wrist measurement should be made on the outside of the arm. Since I live in the United States, where we use the highly silly imperial system, I will help you out with the equation, 2.54cm = 1 inch. Thanks for everyone's help!

For extra credit you can point out that no conclusions can be drawn from the data offered because:

1. All western men lie about their height by a factor of roughly 5% Not one man I've ever known in all my life was nearly as tall as he claimed to be.

2. Age needs to be factored in if you are looking at ratios because the spine settles dramatically with age. I am an inch shorter than I was fifteen years ago. (But my feet are two sizes larger)

As a sidebar, pilots of the present generation are going to have a problem with this, where my contemporaries did not. We carried our suitcase and flightbag for most of our careers, before 'wimp wheels' were invented. The result was that while our spines compressed and we got shorter, our arms got longer and we could still reach the same switches on the overhead. The current generation of pilots will need power height adjustment for this!

Plus the Internet Factor, of course.

Perhaps if you'd worn tighter shoes...

### RE: I Need Some Measurements Please

Thank you to everyone for the quick and informative posts. I do not need any more people to volunteer since I have 10 replies, but you can still post your measurments if you would like to because the more points I have the more accurate the line in my project will be. I really did not think I would get 10 or more posts like I did. You guys are great.

LOL, don't you belong in the zoo?

That's alright because everyone needs a good laugh now and then!
Oh, by the way, thanks for your measurments!

I thought an alternative motive might be to find people whose arms are too short to reach their pockets and never pay for drinks.
