Borovets, Bulgaria
Killington, Vermont
St Jovite, Quebec, Canada
Livigno, Italy
Wengen, Switzerland

Wengen was the better of them for snow all but the best apre-ski is Livigno for sure!

Must go again, maybe this winter .....

Genuinely and take this advice. Try Italy and La Thuile. La Thuile is stunning, nice restaurants and fantastic intermediate skiing. I love it. All you English book with either Inghams or Thomson/Crystal in either the Planibel Hotel or the Planibel apartements.

Not only is it fantastic, you get to fly through the mountains into Turin on either a BA RJ100(Inghams) or a Thomsonfly 757(Thomson/Crystal)

Mount Rose and Slide Mountain, small areas, are less than an hour away from my door. Feel like spending a bit more for a lift ticket, nearby favorites are Kirkwood and Heavenly.

I also ski places in Utah and Colorado but pretty rarely anymore.

Courmayur is a great place. I liked going up in the cable car thingy and then skiing down the side of the mountain.

I usually go to Hillend out near Edinburgh, plus it has an added bonus, you can see all the aircraft arriving into EDI as long as they are using RWY 24.  Silly

I went to a place near Zurich once about 15 months or so ago and there is a great place near Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic (it was also featured in the movie Last Holiday with Queen Latifah) that's really good.

My favorite place to ride (skiing is for wusses, nuts to independant suspension) is Copper Mountain, I also like Winter Park, Wolf Creek, and Purgatory, but nothing comes close to the vertical Copper has.

Davos (Switzerland). Great skiing, linked to Klosters (in good conditions you can ski non-stop for a couple of hours without taking a single lift from the top of the Parsenn all the way down to some of the villages around the Klosters area... wonderful). Lots of après-ski as it's a rather large town. I love the place!

Yeah, boarding is a great thing, as every plane travel begins with it...

Or did you mean this senseless activity of these hip'n trendy folks who sit on their arse most of the day, preferrably right behind an edge, discussing which slope that is far beyond their capability they will fail next on? I've skiied Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Incline, Homewood, Soda Springs, Heavenly in Tahoe, and Yosemite, but my favorite is Kirkwood, which is south of Lake Tahoe. Higher base elevation than most of the Tahoe runs, lots of powder, and great scenery.

Val Cenis - France

On the French / Italian border, virtually unheard of outside of the area. Only really busy on Saturday when busloads of Italians come from Turin but even at peak times there's no queuing. Been there 4 times now. Illness precludes a trip for me this coming winter, so Mrs Willo may go on her own. Doh!

As a New Englander, all of my skiing has been done...well, in New England. The majority has been done at Sunday River in Maine, as well as Loon in New Hampshire and Okemo in Vermont. There are some others that I can't remember as well.

One of these days I will ski somewhere west of the Mississippi.

When I lived in NY, I would snowboard at Dry Hill, a local ski area only about 2 miles from my house. Since I moved to NC, I don't snowboard too often. Maybe if I move back to the Northeast in 2007 I can break out my board again...

i haven't been skiing since we sold our mountain home in Breckenridge, CO. Breckenridge was a great place for me and my family, but only going once or twice a year, didn't justify having a large family home there.

I've also been skiing at Crested Butte, Vail, Keystone, and Winter Park, all in Colorado.

Wherever there is Snow!

I've skied most major resorts in Switzerland & France, a few in Austria and a couple in Italy. Spain and Andorra to come ...

In N. America I've skied five or six in Colorado and six or seven in BC and Alberta.

Now, what I want to know - who'se skied in the Southern Hemisphere (both because you live there - and those that have abandoned their northern summer to ski in N. Zealand (Australia??), Chile and Argentina, etc.)

I'm interested to learn 'is it worth it'? How do the southern resorts compare to Europe and N. America?

The main resort for the Victorian snowfields is Mt Buller. I've been there once, back in 1990 for a school ski trip. It's not too far from Melbourne (about 2 1/2-3 hours - close enough for a day trip) While it isn't as developed as europe, there has been a lot of developments up there in the last few years (hotels/apartments). It's quite common for Melbourne people drive up for the weekend. Also a lot of the ski instructors & other staff come here from either Europe or N. America for our winter & go back for the Northen winter, so it can't be too bad!
