MAN Meet Aftermath Thread

Sun Jul 02, 2006 7:21 am

Made it home after a great day out - thanks to all who were there! It was nice to be able to enjoy the football together, even if it was only Nighthawk who got a result.  Sad

The meal was great, too - even being dazzled by camera flashes from all sides  Smile

Unlike most, I didn't have my camera most of the time, so only have a few photos:
http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/23004/Group.jpg
UTA_FlyingHigh, USAFHummer, BMIFlyer, Trekster, Speedbirdie and Kazzie at the AVP (Hope I got the names right!).

Daz's "DSLR" at the Airport Pub

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/23004/Rhaaways.jpg
UTA's Sketchings

http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/23004/Supporter.jpg
No comment needed!

Most of the participants will now be enjoying the delights of Manchester, so photos from them will probably follow tomorrow! Needless to say, Lew will have plenty of ammunition for his photoshops in future...

Posted this on the original thread but maybe the wrong one!

I'm back home now!

I went up to level 13 from 7.30-8am, then went to the AVP from 8am-11am.

I managed to video all the inbound flights I know about, I have video of the following A.net members arriving:

Wilco737 on LH A319
Skidmarks on Euromanx DHC8
LO231 on SN Brussels Avro RJ
Kazzie/BCAL/A340600/British767 on BA A319
UTA_FlyingHigh on Ryanair 737-800

I also have footage and photos of most arrivals this morning, if you would like any of the videos please shout and I'll get them put together.

I will be editing together the above this evening hopefully so will be able to send you an MPG of your flights arriving.

I had to go home as A) it was too hot, B) I was burning up C) my hayfever was playing up big time and D) the ignorant twats on the mounds pushing me out of the way and climbing the fence in front of me as I was videoing!

Not sure if I saw any of you at the AVP this morning without realising as it was packed!

Finally, photo of Wilco737's A319 arriving from FRA:

Skidmarks on Euromanx DHC8

Wow! Someone videoed a Euromanx Dash! I'm impressed! Big grin

Well, sorry I was a party pooper for most of the day. However, the crowd I met in the late afternoon at the Airport Hotel seemed happy enough, depsite England being knocked out of the Rounders or whatever it was. Big grin

Sorry I missed BACL, maybe there'll be another meet and he hasn't been put off ever meeting an A.netter again!.  wideeyed

Nice to see some old friends, and nice to meet some new ones. Kaddy and UTA stand out there (wonder why that is?) Big grin

I cant remember who it was said he was coming over to the island soon, but if you PM me I'll give you my mobile number if you need some info.

And I have to complain about the heat - it is NEVER hot when I go to MAN. There was no rain, no wind, sleet or snow. It just didn't feel like the same place!

Cheers all

Ive just noticed a HUGE blister on my foot and not to mention the glass still trapped in my other foot as my red stilettos didnt stay on too long!
I think next time i wont actually book a hotel room coz i never seem to stay in them..
Anyway, im off for a kip. My pics will be uploaded tomorrow (well Kaz will do it as im too thick to)

I'm sat here all by myself in the lobby of the Sheraton Lagos using wi-fi for the first time ever !!! (cheers for the dongle Ben).

Not seen anything exciting yet since I've been here although I was accosted by a Prostitue whilst eating my lunch. I had to politely decline though.

Hope to see som more pics soon.

Well, the group has split up now, sam, kaz and the other dan are at MAN now praying there flights have come in (unlike englands plane, Which we and loads of news crews were waiting for. It diverted to LPL). EWS is setting of for scunnie now as well. Rain has just stopped after the great thunder storm which has cooled the air off.

This weekend was amazing, great people, great food. Im redder then Dave which is VERY weird. Nice to see sue and family, not seen ya for 3 years nearly. Had a great laugh, met some new people who are great. Had ANOTHER american stay in my house, this time it was planned unlike Ali last year lol.

ROCK ON MAN 2006, the best meet yet

Hey guys and gals.

We finally got back home just after 5pm and a steady journey with no incidents, rather sunburnt, plus a detour via Goyt Valley. It was so quiet there you could hear the birds breaking wind  Wink.
So good to see everyone again though and a great hot weekend. Ok England gettin knocked out of the World Cup was a downer for most of us but keep yer chins up.
Thanks to Daniel, David,Alex..etc for organising things.
Best pic I think was of Daz on the back of his BMW. Cracking photo.. I think all of us got a shot of that one.  rotfl   bigthumbsup
Trekkie I promise.. I'll be up again soon. Kaz... would love to see around LTN.. when I get the chance.
My other half John says great to meet you all..glad he didn't miss the meeting despite suffering from a bit of heatstroke as a reminder of the weekend....  hot  .
This heat is murder.. I miss that air conditioned room at the hotel already. Looks like its a hot sweltering time here in the UK for the rest of the week. Perfect plane spotting weather.
Roll on the pics everyone.  Smile

Hey guys,
Well I just got home after waiting with William (UTA) for his flight on Rhaayanair at 2230. I'll keep it short and say thanks to everyone who made it for making the effort and thanks to the designated drivers, you helped out great as ever.

I have no photos really as I left my camera in PMI the other day, oh well. I'll look if I have anything on my phone tomorrow, after 4 hours sleep last night I'm too knackered to care presently! I can genuinely say I had a good time this weekend though.

Hahaha,

This guy was sat infront of me on my train home from MAN last nite...he struck me as a bit weird if ya ask me. Had his scanner on all the way to Piccadilly and seemed to be making too much effort to strike up conversation with the female conductor...she was having non of it!

Cheers for all coming to MAN yesterday, had a great time seeing all you guys! For once the weather was great too!

This guy was sat infront of me on my train home from MAN last nite...he struck me as a bit weird if ya ask me. Had his scanner on all the way to Piccadilly and seemed to be making too much effort to strike up conversation with the female conductor...she was having non of it!

Mark, I know the comments you've made weren't in ridicule, but I did hear a few people making jokes about him during the course of the day as he kept appearing in different locations where people were. From his appearance it was clear the guy has Down's Syndrome and is obviously doing very well to be as independant as he is. Nice job by some to poke fun though...........  Yeah sure

Ok well I had to post the following photo of me and Daz! Arriving at T3 this afternoon we found out some of the England football squad were flying back to MAN thus Sky News were there. With a few carefully timed strolls across infront of the camera, here we are on TV.

Thank god for Sky+!
