<Italy - France> The WM Final Expectations

Thu Jul 06, 2006 9:12 am

Hi guys... France made it to the Final so now we can speculate on who's gonna win on Sunday. All comments and off-topic considerations are Welcome.
Italy --> Thanks for this beautiful match and let us Italians dream
Germany --> A great game and a lesson of how to lose with dignity and honour
France --> They played very well in the 8th and 4th finals and won with the minimum tonight, a deserved final
Portugal --> A WM above the expectations with a great coach and good players

Also I wish we will see a nice match for the 3rd place which I think to many people like to discredit. Why all the people is happy for a Bronze medal at the Olympics and we shouldn't give the deserved importance to this match???

PS. I hope Italy does his small "vendetta" against the Bleu's. I think about WM 98 and Euro 2000

Hope we all will enjoy 2 beautiful matches again.

Ciao
Joe

I find it hard to believe Italy can lose this. Nobody has scored on them, they are playing their best soccer. I say Italy wins by one or 2 goals and another shutout by Buffon. He is a wall in that goal!

Didnt the USA score against Italy? But yes, I agree, Italy just might take this one.

May the best team win. Forza Azzurri!!

ITA 1:2 FRA

The Italian goal will be by Luca Toni, while the French goals will be one by Henry and the last one by Zidane.

Too nervous to speculate ... regardless of who wins, I am very happy and proud of Italy. They began the WC with the whole corruption scandal, then they had Nesta injured, then Pessotto attempted suicide .... the players gave 110% and made to be able to play all 7 games. Of course I want to win it, I will be the happiest person on earth, but yesterday's game against Germany was in my heart a final of its own, and we won it. Hopefully I'll be on Sunday as happy as yesterday, but if not, no worries. Grazie ragazzi e Forza Italia!

I don't think it will be a high scoring game, I say:
FRANCE 1 - 0 ITALY at 90 minutes.

After the whole Italy-Australia fiasco I cannot bring myself to support the Azzuri, so I will be cheering on France.

Anyone find it interesting that it is the Blues v. Blues?

This is the match up I didn't want to happen.

I feel sorry for my cousins in Agde, France, Sarno, Sant Angelo and Erba, Italy. They will not be talking to each other for a long time. Just more fuel on a 100 year old family feud.

But since my French relatives were once Italians....I will root for Italy. But It sure would be nice for Zidane if he held the cup in his final year.

I changed my flag to support Italy in the final. My wife is italian and love this country (specially Toscana). 1982 is the first WC I remember and I supported Italy against the germany, wonderful memories.... and now it's about time they win again the worldcup for the new italian generation. I hope they will beat France 3-0.

Actually he didn't dive, he found on his legs the body of an Australian player and as you know a body isn't transparent, we surely have a lot of defects, but in this WM you can't accuse italian players to be not correct. Except for De Rossi that paid with 4 games out. The referee took the decision and Italy won, you can complain with the referee, not with us. What would you have said if it had happened to you? And the referee did a mistake giving a red card to Materazzi so you can't say he was biased. Italy didn't play ver well but you can't say that Australia played better so I think after all the result was right. Hiddink came in the locker rooms to make the compliments to our team.
I don't understand why people has always something to say for discredit a victory.

OK I didn't undestand really well what he meant with "ballistic" but it didn't seem humourous to me. May be I just can't understand your humour that goes against who respect the losers.

And Pizza-boycott doesn't sound humourous to me, it sounds like the usual and ancient prejudice I dislike both ways. Italian vs Germany and Germany vs Italy.

Argh, come on, JoeCattoli, of course he DID dive, he was laughing when he "fell". It's a classic "Schwalbe" as we say in Germany - a fake fowl. An Argentinian player got the yellow card when he did the same in Germany ./. Argentina game.

lol - and by the way, HR3 radio reported that some Italian pizza producer already complained that less pizza has been sold today. But this has nothing to say, due to weather maybe some more ice cream has been sold. Who the hell is eating Pizza at an outside temperature of 35 c

Well I talked with some Germans friends of mine and they all said it's ridiculous.
Even my mother is German and think it's BS. I don't see any humour in damaging Pizza producers even if I know it won't last. But if you don't wanna eat Pizza that's your problem, why don't you stop with Pasta as well? You don't know what you lose.
The best thing I've seen on TV were Germans eating Pizza right after the game in Stuttgart ripping off a Bild zeitung that they didn't like. That's sane humour and the best way to react. It's because of that people that I said you gave us a lesson of Fair Play and I'm happy to have some German blood.
But I'd just stop this irrelevant question with you guys.
It's just more fun to agree with everyone IMHO.

Good luck for the 3rd place

With France as the underdog, I see them coming out strong and really taking it to the Italians. Zizou will be amazing in his last game, the man is out to prove it to all the naysayers.

France 3: Italy 0. Henry gets the hat trick.

Most mention how strong Italy's defence is, however the French back four rarely get the kudos they desreve. Thuram, Gallas, and Sagnol have been excellent.
Come on you gunners......!!!!!

In Germany we have started a pizza-boycott
Absolutely ridiculous, it's the most childish think I've ever heard.

it is "humour", a strange way indeed, but humour nevertheless, at least to some extent (I hope 98,9%)

Quoting NumberTwelve (Reply 41):
Don't you have any sense of humour? It's always said that we Germans don't have humour but it seems as if the "Non Humour Genes" have moved south of the Alpes

well, it is the kind of German "humour" (also in evidence in Switzerland) which other people find a bit hard to get

Quoting JoeCattoli (Reply 42):
it's BS. I don't see any humour in damaging Pizza producers even if I know it won't last.

it is far more "humour" than the anti-Doener boycott in Switzerland after that horrible match in Istanbul. Not only Doener was boycotted but whomever for some silly people looked "Turkish" experienced one or two eggs "exploding" 2 meters behind .... -- but the whole mess did NOT last more than 2 or 3 days

'There are people making jokes (also in songs) describing how they are killing civilians (i.e. Iraq), thats very hard, that's no joke.
Compare with British humour and you know what is "bit hard to get" .

Comon, the British are vastly superior with regards to humour....even to Germany. But keep trying.

I'm still going with France to win.
