Most Unpersuasive Conspiracy Theories

Fri Jul 14, 2006 1:04 pm

This is a thread to list conspiracy theories that seem to be highly unlikely to be true.

Here are a few:

1. Fluoridation of water serves to facilitate mind control.

2. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes never really had a baby together.

3. 9/11 was a creation of the CIA.

4. Space aliens are being held at Area 51, where the government is reverse-engineering their technology.

5. Knowledge of free energy is being suppressed by forces unknown.

6. Secret societies have shaped much of history, and, even today, control the course of human events.

7. America invaded Iraq so that Bush's buddies could get rich.

There. A nice start.

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):

1. Fluoridation of water serves to facilitate mind control.

No Way

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):
2. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes never really had a baby together.

Cue the Cargo bay

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):
3. 9/11 was a creation of the CIA.

4. Space aliens are being held at Area 51, where the government is reverse-engineering their technology.

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):
6. Secret societies have shaped much of history, and, even today, control the course of human events.

There is controversial evidence that makes these plausible but none of them are true. The worst I can possibly think about 9/11 is that the US government knew about it and took no measures to prevent it.

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):
5. Knowledge of free energy is being suppressed by forces unknown.

This one I would think is probably very true due to the fact that we know there are plenty of free sources of energy and the energy companies will not let people know about them because it makes them lose money.

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):
7. America invaded Iraq so that Bush's buddies could get rich.

I'm not even bothering with this one.

The original description of the above theory, which I edited out evidently before you read it, referred to "perpetual motion", which I think you and I would agree is thermodynamically impossible.

I take it, however, that you are referring to solar energy, which is more plausible. However, do you believe that the energy companies really are suppressing knowledge of solar energy, or isn't it more plausible that solar energy technology hasn't yet advanced to the point where it can be more widely used?

A genious called Nikolas Tesla had invented several techniques (including engines ) that were running on close to zero energy....
A Google search will provide you a wealth of articles about Tesla, one of the most incredible inventors of all times.
For reasons I never understood nobody followed thoses techniques onto a road of industrial scale.
But if you dig into his works, you will discover amazing things....

Erratum:

Above sentence is as corrected.

Quoting Beaucaire (Reply 3):

I've heard of Tesla, but I don't know very much about his techniques. They sound interesting.

For me:

1)There are people that think that this world that we live in is actually not the 'true' world, like the Matrix.
2) Going to a bit controversial, but I don't think the God/Jessus story is true, it just doesn't sound feasible to me.

How could you forget the JFK assassination?

There is Documentary
on australian tv about JFK and his death. Here is description of the what the program is about

Quote:
John F. Kennedy's assassination on November 22nd, 1963, was the murder of the century. Over the next 40 years, divergent conspiracy theories surrounding the assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, have captured the imagination of people the world over. According to this two-part documentary, facts supporting a new scenario have been uncovered. After years of in-depth research, Wilfried Huismann has succeeded in gathering evidence proving Oswald to be a weapon-for-hire in JKF and Robert Kennedy's deadly duel with Fidel Castro. This documentary reveals that only a few close aides to JKF and his successor Lyndon B. Johnson were privy to the secret details of the duel between Kennedy and Castro. With Huismann's camera running, these top-level historical witnesses reveal what they know. For the first time in the history of the investigation of the Kennedy assassination, the Mexican secret service DSF - responsible for the tight surveillance maintained on Oswald during his Mexican sojourn - allows access to its archives. Filed under "Oswaldo-Kennedy", Huismann discovers copious material: surveillance reports, interrogation transcripts and photos. The documentary also reveals how Gus Russo, a renowned assassination researcher and member of Huismann's international investigative network, unearthed tape-recorded wire taps from the Cuban embassy in Mexico.

You can make you own conclusions of what really think about this.

Gotta say that I love the theory that Dave Chappelle didn't continue his show because was seen as a danger to the Afro-American movement, and as such was "taken care of" by the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan (http://www.chappelletheory.com/).
Now, I don't doubt that those 3 guys in their twisted sense of PC have had such thoughts, but seriously...

I love it...it now has a name:

'Pierre Salinger Syndrome' and the TWA 800 conspiracies

So prevalent were these theories that the term "Pierre Salinger Syndrome" -- the belief that everything on the Internet is true -- entered the lexicon

Well solar, wind and hydro power sources are essentially free sources as they are non-renewable which is what I interpret when you say free energy and I do think that it the knowledge of this is being supressed because the energy companies make more money selling the consumer oil and gas and since they appear to be in bed with the governments I would say that its very likely that the true information is being supressed.

However this is all hypothetical anyway.

Absurd! They're being held at Hangar 18 at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH.  yes

Yup I do, well partly.

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):
1. Fluoridation of water serves to facilitate mind control

Thats a load of crap in my opinion all Flurodation does is ruin the taste of tap water - its a damn good job they don't do it here otherwise the share prices of Evian would skyrocket (from me alone)

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):
2. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes never really had a baby together.

Well he's gay right? Either way I doubt thats his kid and even if it is it was probably IVF or something.

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):

Probably, there were some serious f-ups on the day, too many to go into now.

Quoting AerospaceFan (Thread starter):
Space aliens are being held at Area 51, where the government is reverse-engineering their technology

My favorite, Area 51 & Groom Lake are indeed significant areas but I doubt there are or were aliens there. Chance is (logically) A51 would be a fake to attract so much attention and the site with the alien stuff would be in Miwakee or somewhere (hey bugger all happens in Miwakee right) - come on nobody seen the X-files??  Wink

TWA800 - Not sure on the conspiracies but I will never be sure with that one. It would be very hard to cover up and besides I'd bet GWB would have exposed it to take some heat off him by now if it were a conspiracy.

4. Kevin NEVER cheated on Britney

No. Here's why: he gets to sit around Britney's house all day, doing nothing (except maybe Britney every now and then), spending her money, getting everything he ever wanted for free, and raises his own notoriety/publicity to boot. To screw that up, he would qualify as the dumbest human being to walk this planet, and maybe a couple of others.

I'm not sure if it's a conspiracy, but I have heard that the United States stopped space flights to the moon because we discovered life on the far side that wasn't excessively happy with us intruding...

Also, there are those who believe that there are structures on the moon, indicative of past or present life...

Personally, I like to look into these things, and I do believe that the government is holding a lot of info back on us, especially concerning space and intelligent life. But, the decision to believe or not is one that must be made individually...
