Very sad to hear about the loss of a life, especially when someone is killed just doing there job protecting the general public.

Yeah....the kind of ironic part is all 6 mounties killed in the last year were in small detachments that most think as "safer".....Yet the big cities are called dangerous.....

This pisses me off, it's so senseless. You have two people that allegedly "loved" each other at some point in the past and it ends up in someone's death. I know the emotions run deep in domestic violence situations, but it's just so stupid for it to come down to someone getting killed, ESPECIALLY responding law enforcement officers.

May they rest in peace.

It was all because this loser was mad his mom got half the farm in a divorce settlement. He had expected it to be given to him. Another product of the culture of entitlement.

Now an 11 year old girl has no parent at all, and a nine month old will grow up never knowing her father.

It sure does take a special person to be able to put their life on the line like they did to help others in need. God Bless their family and friends.

Tonight on the news they said that the guy who shot them both still had not been found and they mentioned that he may have committed suicide!!!

I feel terrible for the family and friends of the officers that died. These are the real heroes, just doing their jobs and keeping the general public safe and they are gunned down over a senseless family dispute. Terribly sad, nothing that anyone can say or do will make the familes feel better, but I hope that justice is brought to the man that killed them.

I hope I am that breed, it's all I've ever wanted to do, and even more so now that people are getting as out of control as they are.

It might sound callous, but I wouldn't give two hoots if that were the case.

"He surrendered Tuesday at the urging of a Saskatchewan farm couple. Armand and Rosanne Smith say they fed Dagenais and persuaded him not to kill himself before helping him surrender to face charges of killing two RCMP officers."

Holy crap. I wouldn't have bothered to talk to him, I would have just called the police. Though I am glad that he is alive because now he can be brought to justice and can rot away in jail for the rest of his life. There are some things in life that are worse than death.

A tough decision but I think if it was just me in the house and not my family, I would have talked to him too and tried to keep him from committing suicide but if he tried to come around with my family here, all bets are off. I'd have turned him in and I'd do whatever it took to defend my family (suicide might not be an issue for him) until law enforcement arrived.
