A Sad Day For Sandwich Lovers Everywhere

The co-creator of the Philly Cheesesteak has passed....  cry

May he rest in peace and his sliced beef and onion sandwhiches live on forever!

Well, I did not know someone had claimed the title of originating a regional specialty. I do think that the general idea probably occurred to a lot of people at more or less the same time.

Let's see.

Beef
cheese
onions
grease
garlic salt
pepper

There. Six of the four major food groups all in one dish.

Divine.

The very first sandwich -as created by the Earl of Sandwich - was a roast beef one.

He had been living with his daughter in Brigantine, N.J., and died of heart failure Thursday at Atlantic City Medical Center in Pomona, N.J.

And to think, right after HP stopped serving the Phoenix Philly.  Sad Poor man died knowing that HP/US no longer wanted his sandwich, what a horrible way to go!

Remarkably well attuned to what is fitting and correct, was the Earl. He knew a good thing. I wonder...do ya think that it came on rye with mustard and a kosher dill on the side, delivered by Sam Katz?

That's probably because he got his New Jersey car insurance bill.
