The Never Ending Ugly Car Thread

Wed Jul 26, 2006 2:31 pm

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Here are some of my nominations for Fugly Duckling cars made today. In no particular order

  • Suzuki Aero wagon; the rear looks like a baboon's ass especially in light colored cars!

  • Dodge Charger; It looks fat, bulbous and like the stylist was high from sniffing glue. Amazingly, the Chrysler 300 which is the same platform is growing on me. Has a pimp-mobile/Tony Saprono look to it. But the Charger!

  • Mazda qx or whatever 7; back to the future circa Japanese wagons circa 1976!

Zoom zoom puke! that rear side quarter window hales back to an era I'd like to forget, the early 1970s. At least the exploding Pinto wagons came with fake wood trim!

  • 2007 Escalade, GMC Denali etc: Whats the point? Fat ugly and rounded. If I'm going to tool around in something that gets 7 mpg. at least let it be a seat of the pants roadster/sports coupe!
    http://www.groundforce.com/escalade/Escalade%20Big/2007%20Escalade%20001.jpg

  • 2006 Nissan Quest; At least most minivans are just boring This thing is a fugly family cruiser!

I'll think of more not to worry!

Not only is it ugly as hell, everyone I know who drives one is a massive tool.

Looks like my little brother designed it with Legos.

Really, ACDC8, the Chevy Impala, and its twin the Caprice, are some of the best iron the USA has ever made (at least the 94-96 years, that is). You must not have ever driven one... About 6 seconds into the zero to 60 time, the feeling you get will make you forget whatever you hated about the looks of the Chevy B Body...

But I must take a step back to the thread starter...

Sometimes, people go too far and those are the results.

I would add this two jewels:

Fiat Duna (it's so ugly that we have a special "fans club" here in Italy)

Opel Corsa 4 sedan (even worst than the Duna)

Sometimes its not only the car, but even the colour, ans some cars look ugly in particular angles as well.

eg the Maserati Quattroporte's front in side view.

http://www.carpw.com/pictures/bmw/G-Power_G6_2005_1.jpg

It looks hideous at times...but at some angles its the best.

Actually Lancia is a healthy and profitable line within the Fiat group.

Which had to bail them out when they went almost bye bye (of the same reasons) in the 70s.

Pretty much everything Cadillac has put out since they introduced their Art & Science styling that officially started with the 2003 Cadillac CTS. Plus I'm still pissed about the modern redesign of the Cadillac logo (bring back the ducks!).

Dodge Charger; It looks fat, bulbous and like the stylist was high from sniffing glue. Amazingly, the Chrysler 300 which is the same platform is growing on me. Has a pimp-mobile/Tony Saprono look to it. But the Charger!

I think the same guy was also responsible for the 300 and Magnum if I am not mistaken. I really like the Dodge Charger, its a nice car and all, has lots of power (SRT-8 and RT) and is a joy to drive.

Not only is it ugly as hell, everyone I know who drives one is a massive tool.

I, personally, like it. It looks like a toaster on wheels, haha.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Obviously, because EVERY car you listed I think looks really cool (except the Aero). Especially the Charger, I think it's a gorgeous car, and one of the best retro designs we'll see in a while.

Any BMW or Mercedes that is a wagon. That should not be allowed.

I love the 3 and 5 series wagons from BMW. They look awesome!

The 2006 Corvette Z06

How dare you!?!?!? You all think LOT's outcries will be bad, wait till I get started on the Corvette. America's sportscar in every way, and this one is an absolute beauty. I like it infinitely more than the C5, and the rear lights are incredibly mean-looking. I like the front lights as well, and while, yes, I agree they should have kept the short-window hard-top, I love the coupe version for this generation. What an unbelievable car. My dream!
