I hope that this bl**dy war will end, and the Lebanese people will be able to rebuild the country. They were able to rebuild the country, actually quite nicely, after the long war in the 1980/90's, which Israel was in.

Long live Liban!

A next door neighbour from when I lived in New Zealand was Lebanese. His elderly mother is still living in Tyre to the best of my knowledge. I hope that she will be alright, and I hope that the civilians of Lebanon will be able to survive this terrible conflict, and rebuild their country.

My sympathy goes out to the hundreds of dead civilians and their families in Lebanon... Lebanon will indeed survive as it always does, but I doubt it will survive without some serious damage. Long live Lebanon and its people, and I hope, for the sake of the people of Lebanon, this conflict ends soon.

For me, it doesn't matter where a person comes from. No innocent people, especially women and children should die in a war. My sympathies go to all the innocent victims of this conflict, and may all those innocent men, women and children who died during this crisis rest in peace. Never again!

My condolences go out to those whose life this conflict has claimed, and my sympathy to those living under the fear this turmoil brings, with nowhere to go.

It is especially hard to look at what's happening to a country that was just beginning to build itself back up after decades of unrest. I would truly like to see the day when we hear of Beirut and it means peace and prosperity, rather than death and destruction, and I will never give up that hope.

What unspeakable havoc to visit upon the innocent. There isn't much we can offer the bereft, except to ensure that it never happens again. That is the least we must do to respect the lives lost.

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I bless the Lord my soul to take...

In sympathy for those innocent and hiding in basements, fleeing or otherwise displaced from regular life, and in sympathy for those innocent people that have died: let's hope their deaths are not dishonored by the retaliatory killing of other innocents, just because they are on the other side of the border.

Remember the past and those that have lived in it, remember to keep the negative events from recurring - live in the here and now, and help achieve a better future.
Smile - it confuses people!

The official silence from some western countries such as my own was almost as bad as the appalling attacks you have suffered.

I trust that the reaction from their populations will cause them to be of more assistance in the reconstruction of Lebanon than they have been in preventing the destruction of your country.

Civilians are always the losers, stuck in the middle when others play their power games.

Heartfelt sympathies to all who have lost loved ones, lost their homes and their livelihoods and wonder when they'll be free to return to their country, hopefully and finally in peace.

I have several friends from Lebanon with families there and I truly hope that all of them are ok. I have planned on traveling to Beirut several times (I have heard that it is beautiful) but have been stopped by regional conflicts twice now. I will make an attempt to go next year to see what the people and country are like.

I also hope that Syria will stay our of this conflict and not escalate the already preverse situation. I also hope that Hezbollah will be weakend to a point where peace will be possible in the region. May god protect all of the innocent people as well.

May those who have died needlessly, rest in peace. May those who find themselves in grief, find solace. May those who are attempting to leave, find safe passage and welcoming arms at the end of their journey. May peace find Lebanon once again.

I have a dream....i see Arab people governed by responsible, honest, transparent, and democratic governments.

The complicity of some Arab governments cannot be accepted anymore, Arabs are fed up with their greedy leaders. Arabs have the right to defend themselves just as Israelis, Arabs have the right to uphold their interests, and control their own resources.

I can only dream...But the day is coming.

Having lots of sympathy for the civilians who directly had to suffer from that Israeli aggression, I see the absolute priorities in A) an end to that Israeli blockade and B) in the repair of airport, seaport and road-network so that trade etc can be kick-started back into function as swiftly as possible. My compliments go to all the Lebanese who persevere under these circumstances.

Again, it's the innocent civilians that are being murdered by the dozens. Sadly they are just numbers and statistics now, that will go into the history books. But they were mothers, father, sons and daughters of people that wanted nothing more than just to live their lives in Peace.

Any war is terrible, and the people of Lebanon have my sympathy for their losses. I feel further sympathy for the trauma that Hizballah has brought to Lebanon's people and hope that they find a way to assert themselves in their own country.

I wish for a solution to this problem that is lasting and good for both sides.

I just made the trip with evacuated lebanese from lebanon to germany.
I even hit on a gorgeous mohajjabe (wearing the headscarf that is) girl.

Guyz, I have breakthrough news:
Those people are just like us!

well not exactly... but they're the sweetest people. I also spoke with a guy from the south who spent 1.5 years in israeli an israeli prison, and we spoke about the hezbollah.

I will not go into details because I dont want this thread to be another victim of the endless pro or anti-israeli action debate.

Anyway I am deeply deceived that CNN would only show images of destruction from lebanon, and never show these people in a more normal situation, like show the families... anything, just anything so that you can see that these are not racist, crazy, psychotic or stupid individuals, but really sweet people.

What a mess.
God bless the people of lebanon.

Words cannot convey the depth of this horrendous tragedy that has befallen Lebanon. Thousands are suffering there as we in the West enjoy our freedoms and our normalcy.

If there is a God -- and I have faith that there is -- then surely God is weeping for the innocent victims in Lebanon, as elsewhere, because the hand of man has made life a hell on Earth for these deeply unfortunate souls.

My deepest condolences to the innocents in Lebanon who hope each day that this will not be their last. Having seen even just a little of that which war has wrought, if only from ten thousand miles away, how could anyone not feel the greatest of sympathy for the ever-growing number of victims there?

May a just and lasting peace soon come to Lebanon and the rest of the Middle East. The sooner, the better.
