Parking At JFK

Tue Aug 08, 2006 12:52 pm

I'm flying out of JFK for the first time later this month (Thurs. Aug. 17) and I'm trying to figure out my ground approach.

Seems that parking will be the cheapest option. I notice that the PANYNJ lots are cheaper than the commericial lots. I also notice that the commericial lots offer reserved parking.

Do the Port Authority lots at Leffert Blvd and Howard Beach tend to fill up? Can you reserve in the Port Authority lots? Is there ever a time when there's no parking? Whose bright idea was it to put an airport between NYC and the ocean anyway?

Thanks.

Check the PANYNJ/JFK airport website further as to parking options and perhaps info as to availablilty of parking spaces. They may offer links as to off-airport parking facilities as well, or do a Google search too for off-airport lots. Summer may not be a bad time for parking, as not a prime business travel time of year. Generally in and around any holiday is when you will have the worst time for parking availability.
