My favourite (and most frequently flown) aircraft and airline combination from my childhood. I flew on all three liveries:

UAL747

My first flight on a 747 (a long dream of mine) was on a UA 747-400 going from the US to HKG. But I just realized that I opened my membership 8 months in advance of that date. So I guess I just liked UA and the 747.

i am originally from Kenya so naturally i am biased towards the national airline, Kenya Airways.

My fav aircraft is the 777. i had wanted to have as a usermane kq777, but it was already taken so i settled for KQ787. Since KQ has ordered the 787, i am satisfied with my username

Alpha Floor is a mode of the protection envelope of the Airbus aircrafts.
According to my PSS A330/340 systems manuals: To aid recovering from low speed / high angle of attack conditions, Alpha Floor autothrust mode is provided. Alpha floor automatically activates below a predetermined airspeed, if above 100 feet radio altitude, and commands TOGA thrust.

Why did I choose this username is complete mistery... maybe because it starts with the two first letters of my first name...

Whatever

Just as it says.

I spent four years at Lajes Field, Azores. I visited all nine islands, climbed Pico, boated and flew all around the islands many times, hiked miles and miles all around, and in general just had the time of my life being there! I totally loved it, and I still remmeber it as one of the best times of my life.

Slam! Click! describes a crewmember who disappears into his or her hotel room on the layovers and is not seen again until check-in.

It does not describe me. I always wandered the city alone or with other crew. I was up for just about anything.

Well, my wife just told me that it does describe me and she intends to have it carved on my tombstone.

Back when I got my first home computer, and was signing up with AOL for my first account, when asked for a screen name, I looked around the room and my Hallicrafters SX-120 shortwave reciever caught my eye - thus was born Halls120.

I used to go by Storis38 in honor of my last ship in the Coast Guard, 38 being the hull number of the Queen of the Fleet, but I found that too many people assumed it was my age, so I dropped it.

Mine is a short two-parter

The 'Duff' portion is from a high school nickname that someone started calling me one day as a goof and it just stuck. People I know from high school still call me that to this day (and I graduated in 1996!)

The '44' is because I like the number 4. I don't know why it's 44 and not 4, it just is.

Well, it's a beautiful word, "halcyon."

Just say it. It comes off the tongue with beauty and ease.

halcyon

adj 1: idyllically calm and peaceful; suggesting happy tranquillity; "a halcyon atmosphere" 2: marked by peace and prosperity; "a golden era"; "the halcyon days of the clipper trade" [syn: golden, prosperous] n 1: (Greek mythology) a woman who was turned into a kingfisher [syn: Alcyone, Halcyon] 2: a large kingfisher widely distributed in warmer parts of the Old World [syn: Halcyon, genus Halcyon] 3: a mythical bird said to breed at the time of the winter solstice in a nest floating on the sea and to have the power of calming the winds and waves

The peacefulness one.  Smile

Just before Air France flights turn to the arrival gate or to their parking stand, the captain announces "dernier virage" (meaning "final turn"), he says this in French only.

The first time I remember thishappening on AF is about 5 years ago, and since then it happens on all (or almost all) the flights I take with them. But I have never seen this done on any other airline.
