For me the worst car I ever owned was

1. 1991 VW Jetta- Will NEVER own another VW product this car sucked.
2. 1985 Chrysler Laser XE- Fast as hell, but lots of problems, mostly electrical with the digital dash.

mine i think was a 1984? What a piece of crap. I will think very hard before buying a Chrysler product again. The car was crap but the dealership was even worse. Oh the memories. Arghhhh!!

Funny thing is my next car was a 1985(?) VW Jetta 2-door Wolfsburg edition. BEST CAR EVER.... for me that is. My Nissan Altima(98) was a very good car as well.

My Chev Malibu is slowly getting to "crap" list. And again the dealership filled with lies and just plain BS does not help.

I know I'm gonna get some heat on this, but my Audi TT was a P.O.S.

I couldn't wait for the lease to expire and dump that car.

Worst car was a 1995 VW Jetta. A very close second was an '02 Volvo.

Best was 2000 Toyota Tacoma 4X4  tombstone  closely followed by a 1996 Ford F-150 4X4

I'm on my third car now so my own experiences are somewhat limited. My first car was a 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme that was a pretty reliable car other than various fixes now and then. My 1996 Honda Accord was great and I was sad to see it go a few weeks back when I replaced it with a 2005 Honda Accord which so far has been great. Check back with me on this one once I have 186,000 miles on it like my last one.

As for worst car that my family has owned...I would have to go with the 1982? Pontiac Grand Prix with a diesel engine. Bad! GM took a gas engine and converted it very poorly into a diesel one. That thing was in the shop as much as a Mexican made VW.

1978 Dodge Aspen, 2 door coupe, 'slant 6' & Auto trans. I bought in June of 1979, used, with about 20,000 miles on it. I got rid of it in August 1982, about a year after the last loan payment. The Aspen/Volare was one of the worst dogs of a car ever made and I had one of them. Carburator was junk, never could get it in good tune. Front suspension needed new lower ball joints by 48,000 miles. The a/c died after 3 years, so had a 'long hot summer' without a/c. One day while driving down the road at 50 mph, the hood latch broke and flipped the hood onto my windshield. I was lucky to get 17 mpg around town, 21 on the road. Thing is I would replace it with a year old Plymouth TC-3 (2 dr version of the Horizon) and later with a new 1986 Chrysler Laser (= Dodge Daytona) Those 2 cars had their flaws too, but not as bad overall as that Aspen.

I would have to say mine was a 1984 Dodge 600. It proved to be pretty reliable over the nearly 10 years my family owned it, but it was pretty worn out when we bought it in 1990. It was just an ugly, underpowered car that nobody could really love.

85 Ford Ranger 4X4 BY FAR!

Factory forgot to hook up one rear brake, rings were installed inproperly and it burned a quart of oil per tank, interior parts of tailgate were missing, AC clutch fell out into the street, all before 25K, total POS. Ford did not stand behind it at all and screwed with me until the warranty was up.

mine was an 1984 Audi 5E auto and a Skoda (Russian food cubboard).
the Audi i sold because it was a gas guzler
and the Skoda, the timeing chain snaped, and because the engine was an overhead cam shaft,no one wanted to fiddle around with it,so it went for scrap.
since then i either walked or use public transport.no more cars for me.

My dad had a 1989 Ford Ranger. He had a problem with it stalling frequently. I remember driving it to the Fix Or Repair Daily dealer, (for the umteenth time). I pulled into the service drive with like 12,015 miles on the odomoter. THEY REFUSED TO HONOR ANY MORE WARRENTY WORK. Needless today 4 hours later with 12,025 it was traded in on a Chevy.

My 1988 Ford Tempo. It was a hell of a car. Bought it new and put 145,000 miles on it. Why is it my worst car?

It caught fire and burned up on December 15, 1994 in a Target parking lot.

Tie for worst:

88 Thunderchicken - It was a POS when I got it from my dad in 94. Dents from his assorted mishaps, no hubcaps on the base wheels, typical fogged-over "sealed" headlight housing, "4.9L V8" meant it leaked 4.9L of oil per week, a/c smelled of butt (mold/burning oil), no heat (broken), stains on the carpet from dad's spilled iced tea....

95 F150 XL - The I6 was a magnificent engine and the body was OK, but the electrical system and transmission were an abomination before the Ford.

Having previously only owned two cars, my Seat Ibiza was the worst car ever. Its was in the garage around 14 times in around 20 months for various faults. I loved the car, but I sold it onto some unsuspecting mug when I left the UK. My mode of transport now, is the local bus or my good old feet.

Over the years I have owned many cars and trucks. Most were bought new adn a few used. Here is a list of them and my comments.

1978-Trans Am- Ate water pumps and AC rarely worked
1979-Trans Am- Same AC and Fan issue- Fast car-once did 158 mph.
1986-Chevy P/U- Lived at the dealership for warranty work- POS
1988-Toyota V6 P/U 4x4- Traded in Chevy Truck- Perfect Truck!
1986-Cadillac Fleetwood. Generally not to bad, but had some emission issues.
1996-Saturn SL2 not a bad car- lost in divorce
1996- Ford Ranger- Not bad, but zero power and not that happy
1986 1/2- Nissan Hard Body P/U- Still running great! 198,000 miles
1971- Ford P/U- Old farm truck that was one of my favorites
1982-Chevy Monte Carlo- Slow but went over 200,000 miles
2005-Honda 2 door Civic- smartest move in my life!!!!

I've had good experience (knock on wood) with all my vehicles, but I must say that the one that gave me the most hiccups-something that could easily be traced to the low quality of CAMPSA fuel in Spain--was a 1983 SEAT PANDA.

1990 Ford Taurus. Bought used for $3600 in 1996 from one of those corner used car lots. I actually had to clean the car out after I bought it because there was still stuff under the seats and in the trunk. The trunk leaked as well. I had it for about 2 and a half years and spent over $2000 on repairs (Most of it in the first year I had it). By the time I traded it in (Got like $1000 trade in value on it which surprised me), the heater didn't work (I used to have to keep paper towels in the car to wipe the windows when they'd fog up) and the a/c didn't work (When the water pump went out, one of the a/c lines got nicked and eventually failed).

The car I replaced it with was only slightly better in terms of issues. 1994 Nissan Sentra. I had it for about 2 years before I got rid of it (Had a major engine issue that was going to cost more than it was worth, so I sold it to the mechanic).

The two cars I've had in the last six years have been very reliable cars. My 1997 Chevy Lumina was a great car, only had to put it in the shop once (Condensor motor on the a/c was bad), and other than routine stuff (tires, brakes), it was a good car. I got in a wreck in March of 2004, and it was going to cost more to fix it than it was worth (The other guy's insurance refused my claim, saying the wreck was my fault [even though the other guy was the one that got ticketed]). My current car, a 2003 Dodge Stratus, I've had since April of 2004 and have yet to have any problems (I had a check engine light come on, turned out I didn't have the gas cap on tight enough).

1984 Skoda Rapid 130....Orange.....Keep in mind the Iron curtain was still up and I still lived in Canada........

Fucking car needed a tune up every 4 months to keep it running. But it did corner like a race car........plus the eninge in the back and drive wheels back there made it a lot of fun to drive in the winter here...

I reluctantly admit. The worst and one of my favorites:

1968 Datsun 1600 Roadster.

I loved it. So much fun to drive! Not overpowered, but lots of fun.

Problems:

Removable hardtop rattled so loud I never knew if the radio worked.

Overheating. I changed thermostats and I changed radiator hoses and heater hoses lying in the ditch alongside the highway in the middle of the night. I blew freezeplugs. A Mexican mechanic finally ground the tops of the pistons down and we ran two headgaskets to relieve the pressure. It worked, it ran cool but it was more gutless than ever.

I had to set the points so often that I could do it in the dark, and often did.

Other 1600 owners would steal headlight rims if you left them on the car.

The bottom of the front fenders finally rusted through and the fenders flapped above fifty or so.

Silly little electrical problems that would have made MG proud.

I solved the power and overheating problems by putting a Mazda 13B rotary engine in it. It would wax a 240Z after that. New problem: I should have been more particular about who did the engine swap. He killed my car!

Any french car in my experience is shite... my stepmom has a two year old peugeot 307cc which is utter crap. It is supposedly a 2,0 liter engine in the car but the Volvo V40 stationwagon with a 2,0 liter engine that I drive is waaaaaay faster than the peugeot. Also, the pedals in the peugeot already make a squeaking noise when touching them. The left door was so loose a few months ago, that it was about to fall off. The lock on the trunk got jammed, and the car has only driven 25,000 km.

Utter crap in my opinion

The car I drove in when taking my drivers license was also a peugeot. Worst crap ever, and the french cars we have rented when on holiday have all had a 100% cheap plastic interior.

My second car, a '81 Subaru Wagon - total POS - No possible way to keep the oil system from leaking that I could find. Horribly expensive parts, unreliable etc.

The first car I had was a Kharman Ghia that my Grandmother gave me after a wreck where the insurance company totalled it and didn't even care about whether she kept the car or not. It leaked horribly causing all sorts of problems with the electrical system but I'd still rather drive it than the Subaru.

Ford Sable wagon 1993 caught fire in my home, while at vacation (so not even the darn car was hot!), fireman had to break in my home to put it out...simply surreal, insurance paid for it and 6 months later I learned of a recall by Ford regarding instant combustion.....If I knew I would have sued Fords ass to oblivion...
That Sable was POS everything failed for 22k miles and the It burned to car hell...

1970 VW Beetle Convertible with the "auto stick shift" transmission. Biggest piece of sh*t ever devised. I hope VW fired the idiot who came up with that POS transmission.

1991 Nissan Maxima. a conundrum if there ever was one. One of the sweetest V6 engines ever. Great handling comfortable sports sedan. And the second worst automatic transmission ever. Couldn't get more than 30,000 miles out of the THREE trannys installed in the car while I owned it.

Though I loved its comfort and how spacious it was, my 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix was a headache sometimes.

Most of its problems were with the gas pump, a damn electronic chip on the starter, a nasty tendency to overheat all of a sudden and the CD would work only when it wanted.

Felt relieved when I sold it... Now I'm driving a brand new Zoom Zoom and loving it!

My first car was a 1984 Buick Skyhawk. Loved this thing, it had no brakes, seals were going...loved it.

The worst Truck was a 1994 Chevy S-10 2x4. perhaps I should not have taken it on 4x4 trails all the time, but it was the worst. Broke many engine mounts, replaced the trany twice, and rebuilt the engine all before 100,000 miles.

Love my Ram Hemi. I hug and kiss it every time I come back from a trip after having to drive a rental.

Well, a '97 Buick Park Avenue. Here are the problems so far:

1-driver side window gets stuck in the down position
2-seal falls off driver's door
3-hood light fails
4-alternator problems
5-somehow (PLEASE tell me how!) the fuel gauge gets stuck UNDER the little pin it rests on (and will NOT come up, because it's blocked! How the F did this happen!?!)
6-Driver's door breaks-cannot be opened from outside
7-remote access ceases to function, fault of car
8-windshield wipers cease to wipe properly
9-ABS goes wacky, works spasmodically, began to brake when NOT being touched
10-traction control randomly disconnects
11-electric system us going weird...lights flicker, car shuts off at random times (BAD!)
12-Sunroof gets stuck open, fixed after a bit
13-covering of seat electric panel breaks, falls off
14-center console breaks
15-driver side seat back pocket falls off (and no one ever rides back there)
16-Car mysteriously rides rough, no one can figure out problem
17-rear defrost ceases to function, fuse fine
18-fan breaks, fixed, breaks, fixed again

Ok, so, really guys, do you have anything worse than this? It sucks! And it's the only car I ave. I'm pissed off. Anyone know how the heck to fix any of this? And what's with the bloody fuel needle getting UNDER it's pin?  faint
This car is the death of me.

I've only owned 3 cars, and the worst is one of my 2 current cars, a Hyundai Pony (Brrr ... even the name is malfunctioning). Actually, I'm quite happy with it, except that I have to refill the oil tank (I mean lubricant not petroleum) every month at least not to burn the engine. It had also numerous little or bigger problems, which were ... annoying, like the front electric windows falling in the doors.

with his Mitsubishi Precis, which was very similar but was
a two door hatchback of the same chasis. Not sure if the
engine is the same in both cars though.

The Worst Car You Ever Owned!

My worst car has to be 1989 Pontiac Grand AM with
the Quad 4cyl.What a weak powerplant for such a heavy car.
I go up hill,I'd have to get out and push.

A 1981, 2, or 3 (I forget the exact model year) Chevy Citation. It was my worst car because there was so many problems with it.

Funny that, I had an XR2 (older one) which was useless. It was ok reliability wise but the handling was crap and it wasn't particularly fast. Didn't exactly help it when I stuck it in ditch and had it rebuilt on the cheap.

Had a loud horn though, that was ok.

LOL! We, a long long time ago, had an A-reg Fiesta 1.3 Ghia. It was great! The XR2 from what I remember was a real beast!  Smile

I've owned three cars:

1) 1993 Chevy Cavalier: What a piece of crap! Got it at 27,000 miles and had to get rid of it for $200 at 50,000 miles
2) 2000 Mercury Mystique: An electrical nightmare. After 50,000 miles I was paying an average of $600 a month on repairs
3) 2006 Scion tC: What a great car! I've had it for over a year now and you can tell it's a Toyota. Great quality, great interior, great design.

Conclusion: I will never, ever in my life buy an American car again. What a piece of crap they are.

with the cheesy digital voice telling you the door was ajar.

I remember that...I usually heard "Your electrical system is malfunctioning, promt service is required".

My grandparents had one of those. He kept yelling at the car saying "The damn door isn't A JAR, IT'S A DOOR"

1987 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible.
Beautiful car but always broke down. I loved the styling, the electronic digital dash, voice alert and rich Corithian leather seats.  Smile

-Turbocharger caught on fire twice!
Luckily it happened as I pulled in to the garage and had the water hose handy.
-Frame broke while driving a modest 25 mph on a residential street.
-Replaced transmission twice
-Replaced water pump twice
-Replaced fuel injectors
-Replaced radiatior
-Replaced starter
-Replaced alternator
-Replaced convertible top and motor
-Replaced speedometer
-Replaced fuel pump
-Replaced wireing harness to rear tail lights

However, the voice alert system always worked.  Smile

Putting the lie to the "flawless Japanese car" myth, I had a Honda Civic that just could not be made right. Often refused to start, got very poor mileage (relatively, considering its diminutive size and gutless acceleration), and they could never make the A/C do more than wheeze out coolish air. Also, rust-prone.

Still, guy in a VW Beetle rammed me with it, not a scratch on the Honda.

My sister had one of the same vintage and drove the wheels off of it, so I know it was an exception. But it was the exception that cost me money.

I know I'm gonna get some heat on this, but my Audi TT was a P.O.S

Thats a hair dressers car!

Other than it been a bit, erm, feminine, what didn't you like about it? Audi's are pretty good cars normally.
