Funny Restaurant Names

Tue Aug 22, 2006 11:34 am

After reading a recent post about the funniest bar names, I recently was in Paris, and ran into an establishment called "Gandhi Fried Chicken", and my friends and I could not help but break down laughing right out front for what seemed like thirty minutes!

So I have to ask, what are some funny restaurant names you have run into around the world?

Some things just don't translate into English all that well.

There is a restaurant in a town south of here called The Poon Palace. Next time I am there I will have to get a pic to post.

About an hour from where I live, there's a place called "Big Pecker's Bar & Grill". I beleive it's some kind of family restaurant. Oh, and their other location is called the "Brass Balls Saloon".

Drive a couple of hours northwest and you'll find this gem...

Better to be nouveau than never to have been riche at all.

I don't have a picture to post, but one night on the "Headlines" segment on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno he had an advertisement for the "Fu King Restaurant."
I lift things up and put them down.

Here's one I saw in Niagara Falls a couple of years ago.

The name "Hard Times" was especially funny as the restaurant had clearly gone out of business. Hahaha

There's a bar in Mississauga, Ontario called "Dick's Last Resort".
It's a bit of a cougar hang-out. Good times are always a sure thing.

The future "Mr. 767Lover" was supposed to be going there last night with his buddies during his Vegas bachelor party. Not sure if they actually did, but we'll see.

That name just grosses me out.

Well, not a restaurant, but a package store in Salem, MA:

A companion store in nearby Peabody:

I've got a T-shirt from the Salem store that says "Bunghole Liquors, we're not #1, but we're right up there."

Ahh, the joys of scatalogical humor.

Apparently that one has been debunked as being bogus, as shown on the "Engrish" Website. Scroll about one third the way down the page here:

Which means if THAT one is fake, then chances are at least some of the other ones are as well.

I can't help but laugh when I see this one - I believe it's in London, UK, supposedly an upper-scale place too:

http://www.guilio.com/pics/lafiga/DCP_1450.jpg

FYI, "figa" is very rude Italian for p*ssy... and I read that there is a sister restaurant to this one called "Il Bordello" ("The Brothel").

I'm sure both names are deliberate, but it's still funny as hell to hear people raving about an excellent meal they had at "La Figa" Big grin
