Tuesday's Stupid Thread: Front Page News Headlines

Tue Aug 29, 2006 12:34 pm

What's the most ridiculous front page news headline you remember? I remember one from last week in the newspaper "Al Día" (which belongs to the same publishing house as the bigger "La Nación"), which said on the front page, in big and bold letters: "Costs of Penis enlargement surgery can cost up to ¢1.5 million (Costa Rican Colones) - Procedure is done in several private clinics all over the country."

I kid you not, this is for real. It's usually the "Diario Extra", which is unlike Al Día and La Nación a real tabloid, which puts up such headlines.

So, anyone wants to put one example?

Tabloids (which includes, among others, the Bild-Zeitung) don't count, it has to be from a serious newspaper.

A couple come to mind:

Hong Kong poo poohs Nichi Nichi's dum dums

Hong Kong Police Chief denies a report in the Japanese newspaper Nichi Nichi Shinbun that police used rubber bullets to dispurse protestors.

Nut screws washers and bolts

Report in a Chinese newspaper that an inmate who broke out of a mental asylum raped three laundresses before escaping.

Have fun!
