If You Were Vincent Chase From "Entourage"...

Tue Sep 05, 2006 9:41 am

...would you hook up your friends the way he does, or tell 'em to stop riding your coattails?

Personally, I don't think any of my friends would be as pathetic as Turtle or Johnny Drama - but if they were and just expected a free ride all the time, I'd tell 'em to take a hike.

At least Johnny Drama is family and TRIES to get parts. Turtle is pathetic plain and simple.  Wink

The funny thing is that this show is pretty much a direct takeoff from Mark Wahlbergs life, with some dramatic license taken of course. Wahlbergs brother has actually gotten some acting jobs over the last several years, and his friends who hang with him work for him as he feels he can trust them and he simply likes to hang out with them.

I'm not sure I would not want some of my friends hanging out with me full time if I had the money to employ them and they could do the work. Turtle is supposed to be the driver, Eric is the manager and Drama is the brother. It pretty much works for the story, and evidently it works for Wahlberg in real life.

Johnny Drama is his brother. Kinda hard to say no to family to a certain extent. A lot of the extravagant expedenditures VC does is on his own, they aren't always asking him for stuff (the biz jet to NYC to film Queens Blvd. was his idea at the end of season 1, Turtle was willing to let go of the quest for custom-made Nikes but Vinny insisted, getting all 3 of them Aston Martins when Aquaman took off, getting the house in Malibu in season 2.) The first two seasons just made Turtle and Drama look a lot more like total mooches, but during this past season they tried to get their own things going, and not on Vinny's dime. Turtle found Saigon on his own and Drama took advantage of Ari's desperation for clients to get signed with him and got a part in a pilot. Just my  twocents

Do you like the show or are you just ragging on it? Just curious...

IMO, Entourage is a fantastic show. I don't get think that Turtle, Drama or Eric are leaching on Vince at all. These guys are all good buddies in the best sense and though materiel things are lavished on them, in no way do I get the impression that they taking advantage of, or using Vince.

The dialog of this show is right on the mark of NY - NJ.

LOVE the show, actually - just can't stand Turtle's character, and Drama...well, he's just Drama.

Nah, Turtle has some of the best lines and other than Vince, the glue that holds them together. Funny thing is I don't view any of those guys as selfish or indulgent. They're just enjoying the wild ride Vince's fame has brought them. None is enjoying themselves at the expense of the others.

To tell you the truth this new season sort of disappointed me a little even though I love the show. I was getting a little sick of Vince shutting down all these jobs he could be taking. I think he should have had a deal signed by the end of the season. He seemed like a little whiner a little to me. As far as drama and turtle. Drama tries to get jobs. At turtle at least tried the music industry thing. To be honest. I would spoil some of my friends just the same way as Vince is.
