Aerobiz: The Game

Tue Sep 05, 2006 3:10 pm

Anyone else remember this one for the classic Sega Genesis? I'm looking at my old copy of it right now. Basically you are the airline CEO...you get to decide which planes to buy, which routes to fly, etc. You can build hotels, start promotions, etc. It was a very interesting game and I remember spending HOURS upon HOURS playing it back in the day.

One thing I vividly remember is that if you flew a Concorde, you always lost a hell of a lot of money...even if you charged a 75% fare premium and you flew it on NYC-London, in the end, you lost a lot of money.

Great game...some of it was realistic, some of it wasn't, but for an aviation junky like myself, it was heaven!

Oh yes! I played it on the Super Nintendo for days on end! Finally had it down to where I could rule the world with one super hub and one type of aircraft. Used to play 2 player with one of my friends in the neighborhood, and we would literally play that game for hours straight. Gotta love the LAX hub.

LAX, NYC, LON and TYO were all so easy, they were basically cheating. The hardest was Moscow. I had the original Aerobiz for SNES but never was able to get my hands on a copy of Supersonic.

I found that a YVR was the only city in the world that would allow you to fly non-stop to any other city. It wasn't the easiest to make money with, but once you started the money just flowed.

I also found the 767, A330 or MD-11 the best planes to make money with, certainly for the long haul routes. The A320 was perfect for the shorter ones.

Here's a site where you can download an emulator and then download the Aerobiz game.

I dunno, I had lots of trouble with either Lagos or Nairobi, forget which one (it's been a while since I've played it). Moscow was hard but those tended to be harder for me.

The problem with the African countries was that you didn't start with all that much money. In Moscow, you were well funded but you got hosed on the fuel economy. BTW, anyone else notice how much of a money maker the DC-8 was?

Aerobiz supersonic was a fabulous game! It was so addicting and the music was so annoying but I could never come to turning it down, it was great. I was never very good at it but even though I would get my butt kicked I would play for hours. Thanks to this thread I think I will download the Nintendo ROM and fire it up on my PC hahaha.

I remember that game too!
I loved the music! Especially the chinky little asian music when you fly in the region. Each part/continent had its own little theme music.
THe quarterly summary part was something I dreaded because that shows how much I did and how much better the competitor did. Even the music gave me jitters.
Enjoyed the outrageous types like the MD-12 and the Boeing 797-1000.
Also I think there is indeed a 787 in that game. Like over a decade ahead of Boeing for future productions.  Smile
