Miami Beach Hotels From The 1950s

Wed Sep 06, 2006 1:32 pm

I'm having the hardest time finding articles and pictures of the giant 1950s and 1960s era Miami Beach hotels online. The biggies such as the Fountainbleau, Eden Roc, Saxony, Sans Souci and the other luxury hotels of that era. In addition, I'm still looking for material on the heyday of "motel row" in North Miami Beach aka Sunny Isles, Fl. Such classic motels as the Colonial Inn, Castaways, Desert Inn. etc. Once the South beach renaissance came along and Sunny Isles changed their zoning many of these lodging classics became dinosaurs or met with the wrecking ball.

Castaways

I slept there like 30 years ago!
Also I was a constant guest at Ocean Pavillion.
But sorry...I don´t know where you can find pics.

The first hit on images.google.com led me to this site:

I'm sure there are many more like it.
