Mich. / Notre Dame Game

Sun Sep 17, 2006 5:29 am

Wow, Michigan has been doing damn well against the Great Notre Dame. I know it is early, but it has been an impressive performance.

27-7 right now. It's about time someone stuck it to ND. They're a vastly overrated #2. Although I wish it didn't have to be Michigan to do it...

They are Notre Lame. They aren't the dynasty they were in the good 'ol days, anymore. Super special coach, or not.

Go Michigan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You mean Bichigan. Notre Dame is something special and will be forever. Get over it. I would still put money on this game even now at half. Mich. is done with td's and ND is just starting. Good Luck.

Psh, yeah. Notre Dame.

Oregon State has owned them twice in bowl games.

Notre Dame will likely never return to it's previous level of play.

Hey Boston92, just one thing to say about your Irish:

"OVER-RATED!"

Have fun watching us in Tempe this January.

Signed,

Buckeye Nation

I've never liked UND, and hell, I'm Catholic! I don't care this (no pun intended) "holier-than-thou" attitude that comes across; or the fact they have their own football network; that when they're only decent, pollsters and the media annoint them as a great team.

I have immense respect for Coach Weis, and think they have the Domers on the right track, but they're certainly not a Top 5 team right now.

Look, the Golden Domers do play a tough schedule, but they escaped in their first game, beat an overrated Penn State team the 2nd game, and Lloyd Carr and co. handed it to them in this game. Quinn is a decent QB, but he is way too inconsistent. The defense has big holes. Quinn made some pretty poor throws against Penn State as well but was bailed out by horrible coverage by the defensive backs and linebackers.

However, on the basis of being fair, a Michigan joke:

Don't get me started on Willingham. All I'll say is Quinn was his first full draft class @ ND, and he obviously did a good job with it.

Oh, and about the Fuckeyes, I'll see them take on the full of upsets Big Ten before I start basing them, damn bandwagon ND haters.

You are wrong, my fellow a.netter. Michigan actually has a good defense, and puts up a good challenge as he would face in a bowl game, or the NFL, if he ever gets there. The same thing happened to Colt McCoy last week end. Everyone was talking about him and how good he is, and then good old OSU shut him down.

Lets face the facts: Notre Dame has six sure wins left on the schedule (Army, Navy, Air Force, North Carolina, Stanford and Purdue) that would leave them at worse with 8 wins, and should they beat Michigan State (somehow they always have a problem with these guys) that would be 9 somehow I guessing that they will end up high enough in the polls to get a decent bowl, although not Glendale, AZ this year.
Question: Is Notre Dame playing for the Commander-In-Chief trophy? Perhaps they can schedule the Coast Guard Academy also?

No, Dont get me wrong. Their defense was unstoppable. But what I hate, with a capital H is how after ND loses or comes close to losing, everybody says stuff like, "ND showed their true colors today" or "ND got lucky with PSU. But when teams like USC lose or come close to losing, its "USC had an off day" or "Texas got lucky". Cmon, give Charlie a chance, he came in with a great NFL bound QB ( I dont care what any of you think), that had 2 years left, 2 years allready played. Once he gets his new QB from Oaks Christian High School, (who looks great, what an arm), he will have 4 or so years to get a national championship or two. Give him a chance.

wow, I can't believe what I'm reading on A.net. you post a thread because Notre Dame loses?!? must be an important person with all that spare time on your hand..

but, anyway

get over it people

we're better
we're smarter
and we have Jesus on our side..please, save the embarassment, don't post irrelevant topics on a.net when the only thing you're actually showing is not happiness, rather jealousy. it's always been that way...so don't knock my school, cuz most everyone who rips on ND does it out of jealousy, anyway

Boston92 and all the other Irish fans, thank you (that comment above was not intended to you, obviously)

and for what it's worth, I got into a "quarrel" with some Michigan jock at the game today. sufficit to say, I won, it was only one push, though. he walked away and gave me the international sign of peace, love, and unity...what a winner....after I got in his face I might add.

Muck Fichigan

hey...just out of curiosity, how many national championships does Michigan have? cuz we have 11

what about heisman winners?!?!
we have 7
how about winning seasons
we have over 100
what about academic all-americans? we have over 40
what about all-americans in general, well, we have too many to even count

Irish fans...keep the faith...

No one had brought up academics until this asshat did.

To the Fighting Irish clan, listen up: because of your holier-than-thou attitude (as clearly evidenced by Ordryan28's post #24,) you are under close scrutiny all the time. So you want all the attention you can get and you got it, but now that it's negative attention you guys get your panties in a wad about it. For what my opinion is worth, I gave credit to ND when they beat PSU last week, but rowdy or unrowdy student section or whatever excuse you decide to throw our way, you got owned by Michigan in your own backyard. Now it's time to face the backlash. You saw Texas fans whine about how they lost to OSU and we got over it. We're not trying to come up with excuses of greatness (which we have on the field of lots of NCAA sports which is evidenced by titles still in this century as well as academics,) we accepted the fact that we lost and we moved on, even if it was to pounce on Rice. If you guys didn't make such a huge deal about how great you think you are and coming up with every ridiculous excuse, we wouldn't be making fun of you guys now because let's face it, it wouldn't be half the fun.

Hell, even if you guys kept it only about football and recognize that Brady Quinn was playing like a high school QB that just found out he got his girlfriend pregnant as opposed to making boisterous statements like "God's on our side," it would be great. Why is God ONLY on your side? So other schools with religious affiliations can't have him on their side? That's ridiculous. Yeah, ok, your last national championship (for the sake of simplicity, considering only AP title) was back in 1988? What has ND football done lately other than choke more than Chris Simms when he played at Texas?

Ordryan28, you're really cool for getting into a shoving match with a Michigan fan.  Yeah sure
The fact that you actually retaliated only shows that he psyched you out. Did it numb the pain that maybe your team has some kinks to work on, that God can only help you so far? Is it hard to accept that your place isn't #2 right now?

End of rant.

first off, the Michigan fan was the one who started with me. while all the students were filing out after the closing hym by the band, there was a michigan fan who decided to take his shirt off and say "hey, douchebags, scoreboard" and i retaliated from there. i stick up for my school, i have school spirit, and make a valiant effort daily to represent my school the way it should be. and you say it psychyed me out-he was the one who ran away, pal.

..it's funny, I have a ton of respect for all our other opponents' fans: penn st, purdue, stanford, even usc...but michigan fans are cocky, arrogant, and you guys deserve to get your ass kicked for acting in such a crude manner. last year when we played you in your stadium (which you certainly copied off of ours), your fans threw beer, pizza, pretzels, etc on our band. are you serious? what kind of assholes do that? realize it's just a game 18-21 yr-olds are playing for fun-no need to act so rude. you're obviously very narrow-minded, so there shouldn't be much use in explaining this to you.

wow , now this is entertaining! you guys should alert me when threads like this pop up

This should not be entertaining. We were both defending our point of views and I went to far. I would like to say I am sorry and ashamed of myself.    I respect you for having your own opinion. I have edited my previous post to a true and approprote response. My post was uncalled for but the "butt buddy" and "asshat" was also uncalled for, and I broke. I once again am sorry.

Notre Dame is still a better team though!

Michigan stadium was built before Notre Dame stadium, whats so hard to comprehend here?

Structure? It's pretty hard to copy something that was built 4 years later....

michigan fans dont realize how they really are. i dont even hate usc fans as much as i hate michigan fans-the cockiest, meanest fans ive ever associated with-michigan fans-and you guys seem proud of that. atleast we clapped when the michigan player had to be helped off the field yesterday. i doubt you people would have done that for an irish player

Michigan Stadium ground-breaking: 1926
Notre Dame Stadium ground-breaking: 1930

Look for another leg to try to stand on, bud.

By the way, its a pretty amazing feat for me, a Badger, to be wholeheartedly siding with Michigan here. Hell, I don't even hate ND, and Michigan irks me more because of the Big Ten rivalrly. You truly epitomize all of the charactaristics that put ND on everyones shit list.
