I would suggest, dump the idea and go to Malaysia instead. Malaysia is A LOT cheaper, offers more fun, more adventures and has everything (well... almost) that can be found in Singapore. Malaysian girls (or boys depending on your taste) are better looking too. Malaysian foods are definitely tastier than Singaporean, you can get authentic Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western cuisines at very incredibly low prices. (They copy the Roti Phrata from Malaysia's signature Roti Canai).
If you want to look at some animals, go to Zoo Negara haha...
If you want something Sentosa, go to Sunway Lagoon. Plus you can coupled it with Genting Highlands. So there's man made beach and mountain top theme park. All have same features, cable car, roller coasters, surfing at the beach etc. Plus there is a casino in Genting. Singapore has yet to build theirs.
Moving around the cities? Kuala Lumpur has the LRT
, our answer to Singapore's MRT.
Shopping? There's Suria KLCC (beneath the shimmering Petronas Towers), Bintang Walk's Malls (Starhill Gallery, Lot 10) and Midvalley Megamall, to name a few, which are grandeur and enormous in size, which make any Ochard Road shopping malls pale in comparison.
And more importantly, all are situated in and within the outskirt of Kuala Lumpur and cost less than MYR
10 (USD 3) for a single one way journey by bus/rail transit. About hotels with the rooftop pool and such, duh... we got lots of it and it's CHEAPER.
If you are looking for a third party reliable source about both places, go to Yahoo Travel and seach for both cities. Click on User's Reviews and you'll be surprised to know how many bad comments received by Singapore (I was surprised too).
A bit aviation related statements so that the post eligible to be posted in the Civil Aviation forum, MH
is superior than SQ
and everyone is so jealous about KUL
that they try to degrade such a masterpiece beautiful airport by all means whatsoever.
Just in case you still want to go to Singapore (despite everything that have been revealed), the bus journey from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur will take approximately 5 hours and cost about MYR
70 (USD 20) for a one way journey. It is on a very comfortable 'C Class' luxury coaches. The buses even have their own FAs (stewardesses/hostesses, to be precise). Flying will take less than an hour but pricier. Only MH
(both are Skytrax's 5 Star Carriers) operate the KUL
route. Very exclusive.
Last but not least, I do love Singapore and it will always have a special place in my heart.
