Ibiza - Tips Please

Mon Sep 25, 2006 8:08 am

Hello. I was here planning my trip for next year and decided to visit Ibiza and The Canary Islands. Does anyone out there have any tips on clubs, restaurants, sightseeing, etc. Oh and also which airline offers the best service from Miami, Florida?
Thanks  Smile

Strange trip as the Canary Islands and Ibiza aren't anywhere near each other. On Ibiza just sleep in, everything happens at night.

Slightly odd trip, as your travelling all the way from the USA, but probably best to fly to LHR and then a U2/FR LCC flight to Tenerife or Ibiza.

If your going to LHR you can go on BA, AA, UA.........

You can probably get a good deal with IB/AA on an open-jaw ticket MIA-MAD-IBZ then TFN or TFS-MIA via MAD.

Keep in mind there are no flights between Ibiza and the Canaries, you will have to go through MAD, BCN or VLC to get there. Shopping around (Air Europa, Iberia, Spanair, even Air Madrid) should give you deals for under 300$ if flying midweek.

In Ibiza, the lively area with most of the big clubs (Es Paradis, Eden) is San Antonio and San Antonio Bay, which is its slightly quieter neighbour. For a more relaxed and scenic location you may want to stay in Portinax or Es Cana on the other side of the Island. Ibiza town is worth a visit during the day and is home to Pacha. Also check out Privelege in the middle of the Island, the biggest biggest night club in the world! Amnesia is also in the centre of the Island. If you go to San Antonio Bay I can highly recommend a restaurant called Jackie Browns, it serves fantastic quality food at excellent prices, i think 3 courses is about €10 - €15 if i remember right.

Also worth a visit is the sunset strip in San Antonio to watch the sun setting. Here's where you find the likes of Cafe Del Mar and Cafe Mambo, which are usually packed full of people inside and on the rocks infront. I found Coastline Cafe and Kanya Beach bar much more chilled and a quieter place to watch the sunset, a little bit further up the coast.

I hope to return to Ibiza next summer, it's a fantastic island and you make what you want of it, be it to chill out or to be loud and lively.

Have a great trip

San Antonio is, in my opinion, the best place to stay on the island. If you're looking for clubs to go to, be sure to check out Privilege on a Wednesday, as this is Meganite.

Kanya Beach bar

We stayed in the hotel right above there, great little place.

Stay in Ibiza Town - San An is too full of suburnt drunken Brits.

For clubbing - check out:

We Love Sundays (House - Carl Cox, Danny Tenaglia, Angello and Ingrosso, Chris Coco, Erick Morillo etc) at Space.
Cocoon (techno - Sven Vath, Ritchie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Chris Liebing etc) @ Amnesia
Cream (Trance - Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Eddie Halliwell, Gabriel and Dresden) @ Amnesia.
Pure Pacha (prog house - Pete Tong, Danny Howells etc) @ Pacha
Defected (house - Junior Jack, Kid Creme, Simon Dunmore etc) @ Pacha
Subliminal (Jose Nunez, Angello and Ingrosso, Erick Morillo etc) @ Pacha
Release Yourself (Roger Sanchez + guests) @ Pacha
Judgement Sundays (banging, uplifting trance - Judge Jules, Simon Patterson, Agnelli & Nelson, John Askew etc) @ Eden
Space @ Space (house - Carl Cox, David Guetta, Fatboy Slim, Dave Morales etc) @ Space
Circo Loco (tough, minimal techno/tech house - Ricardo Villalobos, Ritchie Hawtin, MANDY, Bookashade, Loco Dice etc) @ DC10

THINGS YOU MUST DO AT Macedonian Airlines (Greece)">IN IBIZA AT ALL COSTS:

See Pacha go off big time at about 2am for Junior Jack & Kid Creme back to back - awesome, absolutely awesome.

Go to Bora Bora across the road from Space and have it all day to sundrenched Ibiza house in the sunshine on the beach with the most beautiful of the beautiful people - all completely free of charge. Big grin

See Eddie Halliwell tear Amnesia a new ars@hole at Cream - see the ice cannons, and soak up pure, eletrical energy - will change your life.

Best Hotel for location and partying - the legendary Jet Apartments in Playa d'en Bossa. Bora Bora right next door, and Space across the road. Wonderful beach, and everything you need close by - Ibiza town just a five min bus ride away.

Best way to arrive?

Martinair still use the MD11 AMS-IBZ sometimes, so if you are a plane nut Big grin - check them out.

Otherwise - Easyjet are a good laugh and very cheap.

Also look out for yours truly playing four dates there at Eden and Es Paradis next summer.

Get a plane to Ibiza and leave on the first boat to Formentera, it's far more civilized place!

alternatively through ALC. Amazingly it is one of the mose flexible hubs here (lots o'tourists have that effect)

There is an F50 that flies every weekday ALC to IBZ, a Dash-8 on sundays and an ATR-72 on saturdays.

Enjoy Ibiza, though it is not really Spain. Just keep that in mind while you stay there. It just happens to be part of Spain Big grin

Crazy place.

cheers
