Mail To England From America And Vice Versa Help

Thu Oct 05, 2006 3:53 am

Hello,
so about two months back my great uncle said that he sent me a letter with updates and he got the letter returned to him and resent it, I never received it. I have an online friend and I sent her a package of oreo cookies about 2 months ago and she never received it nor have i received her package with British snacks she claims she sent August 26th. *I have no reason to think she is lieing but i have yet to hear from her since that email. I assume she is busy at work and isnt into computers/ email as much as I am *
Is there anyway to track the mail or find out where it is, what the hold up is or if all three pieces are lost somewheres?
Thanks,
Andre

Only if you use a courier service like FedEx. If you've just sent this stuff via regular air mail, then you've no chance of tracking it.

Funny...I've experienced some severe delays in getting regular airmail across the Atlantic. A couple of months ago, I purchased an item on Ebay from England, and the guy sent it right away (he even faxed me a copy of the receipt). I took 7 weeks to get here. Not heavy, not large, fit in a small envelope.

Then when the missus and I were in England a few weeks ago, we sent postcards on our second day there (09/15) to recipients in California and Tennessee. They still haven't arrived.

Not sure why the US bound ones are not getting through, but could be a customs issue. Have her send it via Parcel Force then she will have a tracking number.

What British snacks is she sending you? Have you checked the international section of your local supermarket?? Or check out www.cameronsofkearny.net for supplies of British food!

The British snacks have probably been held up and/or confiscated by the FDA at some entry point. I sent my daughter some hot cross buns last Easter, and by the time the FDA decided I wasn't trying to blow up the country with them they were like hockey pucks...hard and inedible.
On top of that, the FDA won't even speak to you. I tried.

I've twice received parcels via regular mail from the UK recently with no delays whatsoever. As a matter of fact, one made it in just three business days - less time than it takes to get mail to/from California!

No food, however. Not that I'd want any English food anyhow...  yuck

I've had stuff both commercially and personal stuff that has always made it within a week or so of mailing. I can only think of one thing that didn't make it from an Ebay purchase, but the seller immediately sent out a replacement which did make it.
