Favorite Comedian

Thu Oct 05, 2006 10:43 am

What are some of your favorite comedians? My absolute favourite is Dane Cook... completely random stuff; it's a riot to listen to...

Dave Chappelle is a close second, but I've got to be in the mood to listen to him...

Anyone you're especially into?
Shut up and calculate.

I like watching Lewis Black, but I wouldn't even rank him in the top 50 best comics of all time. I'd actually rank Gallagher higher than Lewis Black. Robin Williams is great, Bill Cosby is a legend, and Chris Rock is probably the best of the 90s generation.

Lol, I've only heard of Cosby. I never really watch TV, even though we have cable. Just the news and whatnot. Saw LB once though and thought he was funny.

However, I don't even have a top 50.  Wink What a poor life I live.

I like Carlin and Robin Williams. In fact, wifey and I have Carlin tix for
his show in Dec. down here in MLB.

Some great old time stuff was done by Lenny Bruce. If you ever get
a chance, listen to "Let The Buyer Beware." It's a 6 CD set that came
out a couple of years ago. He was the inspiration for a lot of todays
comedians.

Jasper Carrot wasn't in The Thin Blue Line. It was written by Ben Elton, and it starred Rowan Atkinson (alongside James Dreyfus, who is another very funny guy). Perhaps you were thinking of one of them.

My favourite comedians at the moment are probably Wayne Brady (just saw him recently at the Improv in Brea), Lee Evans, Jack Dee, and possibly Kevin James.

Rowan Atkinson has some fantastic stand up comedy - he blends physical comedy with the use of wit and timing. And his TV comedy is great

I guess I am not the only one who does ot know if it is berg or burg. Any way, he was the funniest man ever, and I never had the chance to see him live. That was the one thing I always wanted to do, and I will never get the chance. I listened to him every day and still do. He was part of my family and I still have not gotten over the terrible news of his sudden death. Mitchell, Please rest in peace, I'll see you soon (hopefully not too soon)!

Seriously, my all-time favorite comedian is still, and always will be, Bill Cosby.

The stuff he did in the 70's, on families, kids, spouses, etc, was some of the greatest stuff ever recorded, even to this day.

Other ones I've always like are Robin Williams, Gallagher, Steven Wright and George Carlin.

I can't believe I'm the first to mention Rick Mercer! I think the guy is hillarious, although he is pretty limited to Canada. His ironic political humour really appeals to me, plus his accent accentuates that. I was rolling on the floor when watching Talking To Americans.

One of my favourite short clips from him...

Also this (especially funny because Mercer is gay)...
