Ex-Dodgers Lead Mets To Series Sweep Of Dodgers

Sun Oct 08, 2006 1:07 pm

I knew these trades were going to come back to bite the Dodgers in the a$$ when they were first made, and tonight they did...

Shawn Green, Paul LoDuca, and Guillermo Mota helped lead the Mets to an NLDS sweep of the Dodgers. The Dodgers have now won only one playoff game since they last won the World Series in '88. Grrrr.....

Seems like Jeff Kent was the Dodger who showed up to play.

Props to the Mets.....they played like champions. KROC, you've got a winner back there.....

Can't blame management, most of the time those guys sucked back in the 2004 season. If they all of a sudden became better again great for them. You could tell Dodgers ran out of gas from game 1, not too bad though as far as the regular season went. Now I have to go, have to pay a few people ...

Yup, esp. LoDuca. You don't trade the most popular player on your team and not regret it  Wink
Well I believe it all is coming to an end. Oh well, I guess we are gonna pretend.

This guy is a gamer..

I was surprised that the Dodgers made it this far, got to give credit to the manager for all the tricks to get the banged up team to the playoffs.

Ironically, it was all ex-Ddogers who were involved in that double play at home plate as well.

My buddy had an MLB cable package this year and we watched quite a few Mets games. They are an exciting team to watch, and Jose Reyes is a spark plug that makes every Mets game fun to watch.

I agree with the comments about Jeff Kent. When he was with the Giants, I knew I could always count on him for clutch hits in pressure situations.

As to the other two NL teams still in contention, the Padres and the Cardinals, I think they play fundamentally sound baseball but are not particularly fun to watch. Plus I can't stand Tony LaRussa... I have nicknamed him "Smiley" because of his perpetual dour scowl. Maybe he never smiles because he doesn't have any teeth. I realize this may have nothing at all to do with his managerial ability, but all baseball fans have the right to their quirky preferences!
