Easy For Me To Say

Sat Oct 14, 2006 11:01 am

As I don't have kids, but . . .

I think it's a good idea. If some nut is going to pull a gun, I'd rather the possible victims take him down before becoming definite victims. I'd really like to get some parent's points-of-view here.

And bad guys, generally don't like when the victims don't go along with their orders, and sometimes will abandon their plans but most people won't or can't react when faced with a dangerous situation like this. Group of football players might respond, art students more than likely not.

Exactly. It's one thing to train them for possible attacks. But when faced with such a situation in real life, most students, especially youngsters, are going to continue sitting in shock at their desks if a man or another student comes in with a gun!

That's definately easier said than done. If that ever happened at my school it would be hard to attack a gunman. My school had a lockdown practice today. My class was in the library. When hiding in the corner some people were laughing. Though we know it would have been different if it were the real thing.

Here is what we need to do:

(Presuming we have all of our soldiers in Iraq at home)

Close all the loopholes the allow felons to get guns and make all sales require VERIFYABLE ID and finger print. Anyone caught selling a gun without knowing who it is; is responsible for what happens with that gun. If it's used in a multiple homicide; they get the death penalty just like the trigger man (If applicable)

Start an ad campaign letting EVERYONE in the US know that if they LEGALLY OWN a Gun, make sure they are conforming to all applicable Federal and State laws. Let EVERYONE know that if they Illegally own a firearm, they have a month to get it legal. Let EVERYONE know that if they can't get it legal they have a month to turn it (them) in and get fair market value for it with no legal penalty. Once the month is over they can turn it in, not be compensated; and still have no legal problems. Also stop allowing non personal transportation of weapons unless licensed. IE no shipping guns or gun parts unless a person actually escorts it through the entire process.

Then let EVERYONE know (snail mail sent to every physical addres in existance) that our troops are going to start at the southermost point in Key West and work their way to Alaska then Hawaii searching EVERY single building and vehicle on their way. If they find an illegal weapon, and no one is present, it's destroyed. If someone is present they are sent to jail and the weapon destroyed, and heaven forbid someone shoots at our troops: it's the death penalty Florida Justice style like that punk that took 68 rounds for killing an officer.

Now granted this might take a few years, and people will be pissed off about their search and siezure rights; using troops on US soil, the roadblocks to keep secured areas secure, and what not, but the ends will justify the means.

No weapons in the hands of felons, no illegal guns, and a reasonable requirement for private weapons sales.

That would be a good start.

In the interim, cameras in EVERY room piped into a 'youth resource' police officers office (one on every campus) with a panic button around every teachers neck.

If there was some crazy ass mofo' that was deranged enough to enter a school with a gun--he IS there to kill. I'd not want to expedite his pulling of the trigger and suck up 101%. If I rushed him, no doubt I'd be shot.

Now if a large group rushed, he would obviously be taken down, but only after a few people have been shot rushing towards him.

More than one gunman? Keep your ass where it's told to be.
